This is a problem I've noticed on a few airports so far in FS2004. The ones I remember in particular are JFK and SXM.

At St.Maarten, I parked my Cessna on the beach, and waited to see one or two AI planes land on my scenery improved airport. But as a Continental 737 appeared 10 miles out, it was at FL100. It then made a nose dive, leveling out around 1500ft, and then "touched down" in the sea, some 2-3 miles from the airstrip. At the same moment ATC told them to contact ground. The plane then continued skidding across the water, at final approach speed, up onto the beach, over the road, through the fence, and onto the rwy, where it finally engaged spoilers and stopped, before taxiing off as usual.

However, this does not happen all the time. The first time I tested out the new scenery for SXM, a AA757 did the same thing, before the Continental 737 landed as normal afterwards.

I've also noticed a few AI aircraft appear about 10 miles out at SXM for landing, but at insane altitudes, resulting in missed approaches.

Anyone know what's going on, and what I can do to fix it? (I suspect an Afcad might be worth trying, but will it help AI on approach to the airport?)

Wait 5-10 minutes and if everything's not all right at that point, then you have a problem.

Agree 100%, this happens at plenty of airports when you first load. Also is that Continental that landed in the sea an Aardvark 737-300 if so make sure you replace the models, FDE and lightmaps from the update available. Otherwise it will start the descending then climbing thing on approach. This update will fix that aircraft, the 732, 752, 753, DC9 and EMB110.

There must be a problem, because most of my 737-300s that I updated still do that annoying problem you mentioned. It pisses me off, but I've just kind of ignored it for now...

Actually as far as I remember, it did only happen to the first plane that landed there... and I don't recall it happening to any other AI planes after that...

Will try to just ignore it then. Thanks for the replies.

Well, a short update, I reinstalled the scenery for SXM and istalled an afcad (which I may have forgotten to do in the first place) and now everything seems to work fine. Also installed one of those add on files that moves the tower view to Maho beach. Quite neat, but it lacks the possibility to look around in different directions.
