Greetings fellow anutters. My partner and I have recently been working on a freeware scenery for San Jose Intl in California. I'd like to share some preliminary screenshots with you. Granted it's no Grimshaw quality freeware, but I think it will hold its own over time. No release date yet, although we're about 80% done. Comments welcome.

Wow, this looks absolutely superb. The color on Terminal A and garage are true to life and I'm liking the Terminal C rendition as well. Do you have any screenshots of the airport's west side? (HP hangar and such?) Too bad the two international gates you made for terminal A will be vacant for awhile.

Think you and your partner will get around to tackling any other airports? Oakland's been dying for a decent scenery for awhile now.

That looks great- sorry if this is a dumb question, my monitor here in the office isn't so good- is this a FS9 or FSX scenery?

I couldn't see it from your shot... but did you include the outdoor observation area in Terminal C - complete with A.netters with cameras and scanners? Big grin

We will be doing another airport when this one is done, although we haven't agreed on which one to do yet. Possible contestants are RNO, OAK and SMF.

The west side hasn't been completed yet, thus no shots for it. We will be making the Jet Center, the long term parking lot and hopefully the SJSU building with static 727.

This scenery (so far) is for FS9. FSX doesn't run very well on my current rig.

I would definitely like to include the observation deck, however I'm the painter, not the modeler. I have to see if I can talk my partner into including it.  Smile

Any chance you could add a few shots from higher up to give a better feel of the whole airport.

Looking pretty good! The only suggestion I'd make is to see what you can do about some slicker-looking ground textures. The 3D objects look very nice, but I think some custom or photoreal ground textures would really step this scenery up a notch.

Why SMF? They already have a excellent scenery out on Flightsim and Avsim. I think you should replace SMF with FATBig grin

Great lookin scenery!

Are you referring to the one with the gates that are so close together that 737 wingtips touch virtually everywhere?

Maybe? lol It looks pretty payware-ish quality to me.... Plus you can change it from AFCAD. Big grin

You've clearly got a lot more expendable income than I do. I couldn't see myself paying for this scenery.

Quoting KPDX (Reply 13):

I'm referring to the physical gates themselves, not the assigned parking spaces. There's no way to fix spacing issues with AFCAD if the gates are all coded into the scenery (i.e. modeled in gMax) within a wing's length of one another.

I'm going to co-release a Lite KOAK with this. It won't be as fancy but it will have some semblance of the new WN terminal complete with jetways and a highly detailed AFCAD. It should tide most of you over until a better KOAK can be released.

Screen shots coming...

Do you intend to include the new construction just south of the International Building?

Wow, even OAK LITE is looking great. I can hardly wait for the day a nice KOAK is available with custom south and north control towers, the run-up shell over off taxiway W, the old UA heavy MX hangar and all the other little details that make it such an interesting field.

Oh, the one with the crane. Couldn't quite tell where that one was relative to the rest of the airport.

SJC is still 2-3 weeks out, but I may release OAK this week. I have a couple people testing it right now for me and if all goes well, you'll see it on AVSIM soon. I'll post here when I do actually upload it. Same goes for SJC.

I'll be keeping an eye on the SJC scenery. Been looking for one for awhile. Look forward to it. Thanks.

P.S. Definately need more smaller airports in the west coast like SJC. It can get kinda boring flying into SFO, LAX, SEA at times. Reno, NV would be nice.

Do you have any other sceneries on avsim that I could look at?

Thank you for your hard work for us Flightsimmers. It means ALOT!!!!

25 Post contains images SJC4Me : Well, I've had FS for about 3 years now and just got fed up with the stock airports, especially my home town of SJC. So I teamed up with Jose Gutierre
26 CV990A : Yes, and for that I say you're allowed all the leeway you want, that and THANK YOU!!!!
27 SJC4Me : Good news and ok news... Last night I was bored so I started working on SMF. It's coming along so well that I'm flirting with the idea of putting off
28 GOCAPS16 : hey, that works for me. I'm in no hurry. I already have a decent SMF and OAK scenery installed, but I rarely do flights from the airport.
29 Md11fan : Any news on the release????
30 SJC4Me : Any day now actually. We will probably release two versions. Version 1 will be what we have now so you all can get to using it. Version 2 will includ
31 Post contains links and images SJC4Me : Here's a few shots of a couple things I just finished. First is the San Jose Jet Center and second is the H.P. Pavilion, home of the San Jose Sharks.
32 Aaron747 : Looking positively sweet. That's a fantastic rendition of the HP pavilion. Can't tell from the pictures, but does the Jet Center include the HP hangar
33 SJC4Me : Is that the big gray one they're building on the south side?
