Since i have around 10 days of doing absolutely nothing, i decided to build my own model airport. Started working on it yesterday, and already have one section of it built. Here are the pics of the design (still not complete), and what i have built so far.

Looking good, can't wait to see the final product. I'm also planning on building a model airport in 1/400 scale once I've bought up enough aircraft.
Will you watch the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions on Sunday? Only if coach Eric Mangini resigned after a loss.

So if one builds a 1/200 airport, the runway would have to be 15m long at least... building a 1/200 airport is one of my dreams, but I realized that, before I execute this plan, I should get myself, like, a loft or something.

I collect 1/400 models mainly from Gemini Jets. I have about a dozen or so aircraft right now. Originally I wanted to make a model of PIT but then realized that it would be way too big so I then decided to make my own design. It kinda resembles the old PIT terminal. I will post pics of my design shortly.

Unfortunately carson, my project is on hold right now. Im leaving tomorrow, wont be back for another month.. so it will be some time since i post updates. BUT.. during this time im gonna be working on the electrical system for lights, so it should be more interesting when im back. For the meantime, i added some planes around the terminal and took a pic so you guys can have an idea on how it looks like so far. enjoy!

In the first photo I was wondering where you'd fit it. With no reference points, it looked huge Then on the bed, it showed a more realistic size. Looks awesome though. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Haha atleast yours would end up looking like something! Mine would look like a landfill after a terrorist attack
Its looking pretty amazing so far, are the gates walk out ones or will you make it so it has little jet ways that attatch to the AC? Also how many AC will it be able to fit around it?
Rgds --James--
You cant have your cake and eat it... What the hells the point in having it then!!!
25 Okees: Thanks a lot man. Ill be adding jet ways, no walk out gates in my airport! haha.. there are 15 gates.. so 15 AC will be parking at the gates, and ill
27 Jamesbuk: Ok nice Cant wait to see it when its done! Thats a nice ATC tower! I like LHR new one aswell. Rgds --James--
28 Okees: That is pretty nice.. i might use some aspects of it. Im trying to make own designs.. but it wouldnt hurt to be inspired by actual ones.. right? haha
29 Okees: Alright guys.. just finished working on another preliminary design.. tell me what you think. http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k279/okees/airport2view
30 Jamesbuk: Very nice! I tried that google sketch up thing a few weeks back, hard as buggery if you ask me What are you going to do with the terminal in construc
31 QFA380: No problem. Those sketches are looking pretty good.
32 PILOTALLEN: good stuff Okees! I should make one one day but I would mess it all up, would end up looking like Logan Airport lol
33 Okees: Ill just have 2 airports i guess. haha.. the more the merrier, what do you think!? My mom is trying to convince me to actually build and sell models.
34 Flinhion757: I have started on my ground lay-out and will buy some herpa stuff. What is that stuff thatyour terminal is made of and where can I find it in the US?
35 JamesJimlb: this may sound weird but i use lincoln logs from when i was young and build huge model airports.
36 Flinhion757: Cool... I use what ever i can find and willbe useful.
37 AndersNilsson: How about this professional model of the future new Dubai airport?: http://www.aspelund.org/images/dfs/1.jpg Anders
40 Mdodd: Nice work! When i was a lot younger I made a city, complete with an airport for my Matchbox car set. It took up a good part of my basement! All out of
41 Okees: So im back, and working on the airport again. I have a few more pictures available. They are of the control tower and hangar.. mind you..everything i
42 Bwest: Looking very nice! How did you make the tower?
43 Jamesbuk: Haha is that a door knob as the rounded bit of the tower? Looking very nice so far! Rgds --James--
44 Okees: Its a door knob alright.. couldnt find anything to put up there.. and i was too lazy to build something. Im gonna change it though...
45 Jamesbuk: I actually think it looks quite good, maybe a bit of paint to get rid of the gold looking paint on there already. Rgds --James--
46 GAIsweetGAI: The only "problem" I see, although not very significant, is the roughness around the door knob, ie where you cut it. Filing it down and/or painting i
47 Okees: Exactly.. thats what im gonna do once i finish building all the parts. i still have a LOT of work to do.. i have to wait till my friend goes back to
49 KAA330: OK okees your from canada so... WHY DOYA have alitalias? lemme guess, u an AZ fan? just a guess Harry
50 Phileet92: Nice. you people must have a lot of time on your hands. currently i have no room to build an airport of that size. i have about 97 models and an airpo
51 Okees: My mom used to fly Alitalia quite a bit a few years ago, and she always used to get me model planes from the onboard duty free. They are the only sma
52 Phileet92: thats soo sad =( I'm gonna start working on one. i have very limited space though so its going to be kinda hard to build what i want. o well. and goo
