I've downloaded some add-ons sound files for aircraft with no sound that I have also added on to FSX.
What I've been doing is what you do with aircraft add-on files, put them in the aircraft file of FSX.
I put the sound files in the "sound" folder under the aircraft I want sound for. But it doesn't work in the game and there is still no sound. am I doing something wrong? What about add-on panels as well?

You usually get a text file with the download explaining what to do. Are you sure you didn't get such a thing? I haven't looked at how sound is handled in FSX yet but the files will have to go into the "right" place, not just anywhere in the aircraft folder.
If there are no instructions, take a look around an aircraft folder and compare what you see with what's in the download.
