I purchased it yesterday, but havn't officially flown it yet. I started up the engines and taxiied a little bit, but will do an actual flight tonight. The Level-D 767 is much better, based on first impressions, and the panel still seems a little 'buggy.' For example, the fasten seatbelt sign plays the autopilot altitude alert rather than the 'ding' you would expect, and there are a few problems, like the lack of a throttle quadrant on the 2D panel. Additonally, the 2D panel is exactly the same as the default, "Block B" panel, with the exception that more systems are available.

Eirbus06,

Here is a quote from Captain Sim's website:

04 Apr '08 Temporary overload

Some online services/products may be temporary unavailable due to overload. If so, please try back later. We are working on the issue, sorry for the inconvenience.

Sounds like an it'll be up and running again in a bit...

Cheers,
Cameron

I have finally made a few flights with the 757, and my overall advice would be not to buy block F. Although it does "complete" the package, there are a lot of technical things that still need to be worked out. Flight sim has crashed twice while flying the 757, and there are a few glitches that I cannot figure out....for some reason, during cruise, my brakes arm (displaying brakes at the bottom) and do not disarm until the aircraft comes to a full stop on the ground. I cycled through all the autobrake settings to try and clear the issue with no success.

Additionally, there are ways to cheat the systems, unlike some other addons where you must follow procedures. My impression is that block F still seems incomplete, and needs a lot more work to be worth its price. I cannot attest to the Phoenix 757, but I would guess it is a lot better, based on the quality of their other products. Otherwise, go out and buy the Level-D 767...in my opinion, it is the best plane out there for FS9.

I think the PMDG 744 is the best out there Big grin

But Captain Sim has always made good add- ons as well! But I don't think I'll get the B757! I don't have the Level- D 767, because I don't like the 767 very much at all Big grin And 757? Not as long those problems are solved...

As far as the visual model goes, the Captain Sim (block B) is excellent. I would give it a 9 out of 10. My only complaint from a visual aspect is that the thrust reversers are thrust dependent, rather than fully deploying once armed. Their sound package is also quite good.

The POSKY model is also pretty good, but it's one of the oldest of their currently-available aircraft. Also, their flight characteristics have always felt a little strange to me.

I think that Captain Sim may have placed priority on some of their other products that were/are coming out, because my overall impression is that they cut corners on the 757 (block F). Hopefully there will be a patch in the near future that will resolve some of the problems I have experienced...and if that happens, it definitely has some potential.

A 9 out of 10 isn't bad  Wink

The thrust reverser doesn't go to full reverse thrust once they are engaged. So if you just engange them, you only get idle reverse thrust! Only if you want to, you can give full reverse thrust... *NOISE*  duck

I will think about the Captain Sim 757 again, maybe I will purchase it once the server is back up  Wink

I think he's talking about the visual model...how when you put it into idle reverse, the reversers don't deploy completely...instead, they (visually) deploy progressively according to how much you spool the engines in reverse.

...and don't call me Shirley!!

idea  I am sorry, my fault! now I got it! True, if you engage the reverser they deply completly, but only to idle reverse! Now I got it!
