I was walking around LHR last weekend and knew of the hobby shop at the Skyline Hotel on Bath Road but then when by the visitor centre noticed there was another one, Aviation Retail Direct.. From personal preference i prefer the one at the visitor centre as it has much more to offer such as DVD's, magazines, books, models etc whereas the Skyline hotel just sells models.
So...my question is which do you prefer?
1) Sheraton Skyline Hotel
2) Heathrow Visitors Centre Aviation Retail Direct

For me from presonal preference it has to be Aviation Retail Direct (Both the Visitors Centre and their other outlet in Hillingdon). I have used both shops and prefer the service from ARD without question.
They are a lot more friendly and more willing to help out with your choices and options for different models etc.
The guys in the Sheraton seem more interested in how big your budget is and can they sell you one more model to go with what you have already purchased.
Yeah totally agree and ARD is convenient for spotters as its at the Visitors Centre. I got a DVD from there the other day and the guy even showed me clips from the DVD's as i was unsure about which to get, brillint service. Sheraton is too specialised for models, and the choice isn't that great i don't think.
The hobby shop is where the visitors centre is, just off Bath Road. From Heathrow Central take a bus to Boltons Lane, this is where the Visitors Centre is and the hobby shop. The area is ok but there is no place to sit inside and view the aircraft so it gets a bit cold but there is a shelter that is slightly elevated.

The building just below marker B is where the visitors centre is and the aviation hobby shop is on the west side of the building.
