Hello all,
I have been flying on flight sim now for a few years. I like to fly add on airliners in FS2004 as close to real SOP's and schedules as possible. The best add-ons, as some of you will agree, are the PMDG 737-6/7/8/900 & B747-400 and also the Level D B767-300ER. A few months back I started on a virtual tour around the world using mainly the B737-800 and B767, this was due to the flights not being very long. The tour was over 19 legs and saw me land in all 6 populated continents.

Most of the flights were no more than a couple of hours due to all flying in real time and so the legs were between 800 and 1500nm, except some to get me across large oceans.

The route I took was thus,
LHR - BUD 806 nm
BUD - LCA 992 nm
LCA - DXB 1266 nm
DXB - BOM 1041 nm
BOM - DAC 1020 nm
DAC - BKK 845 nm
BKK - BWN 989 nm
BWN - DRW 1408 nm
DRW - BNE 1539 nm
BNE - NAN 1465 nm
NAN - HNL 2748 nm
HNL - SAN 2271 nm
SAN - DFW 1017 nm
DFW - CUN 893 nm
CUN - BOG 1227 nm
BOG - BGI 1003 nm
BGI - SID 2131 nm
SID - RAK 1206 nm
RAK - LHR 1238 nm

Total: 25106 nm

Big version: Width: 481 Height: 241 File size: 6kb
My RTW route

I chose the routes quite randomly with only a rough idea of where I was heading, at the moment I am at DFW and plan to fly to CUN tomorrow.

This post is just to see if any one has done similar to me or if anyone has any ideas or comments, it is just a silly old post for my silly old hobby!

have a search, there are quite a few threads on here discussing round the world flying. I did such a flight a few years back in the PMDG 737-800W. I tried to keep each leg down to under 4 hours. My route was:

Edinburgh
Istanbul
Dubai
Mumbai
Dhakar
Singapore
Darwin
Sydney
Aukland
Pago Pago
Christmas Island
Hawaii
San Fransisco
Kansas
Boston
Rejkyavic
Edinburgh

That'll teach you

Looks good. Definitely a time passer  Wink

This was mine though: http://gc.kls2.com/cgi-bin/gc?PATH=e...=best&RANGE-COLOR=green&MAP-STYLE=

62 Airports, 54186 Nautical Miles, 6 Continents (Although at the end I had realised I missed out Africa....). All in a Cessna 172  Wink The route starts in the middle, down towards Australia, then up the pacific coast, down the western seaboard, towards Florida and the Caribbean, then down to the Falklands, up the west coast of Chile, to the Galapagos Islands, through Mexico, cross back over my original route, through the midwest up to Wisconsin, Canada, right up to Resolute. Then down towards Gander and Nuuk in Greenland.

And no, I didn't do it in real time  Wink Good fun though.

I tried planning a trip around the world once.

Got bored after 200 miles and landed at the nearest airport.
To date I've still got 3/4 to go around the Earth to my originating airport.

PS. I fly real time Big grin

Anyone fly say a 5 city route? For example, LAX-AUS-MSY-MCO-FLL.

LGB....where you can watch the grass grow because the traffic is so slow.

I have been LHR-SIN, SIN-SYD, SYD-LAX and LAX-LHR but not as a 'tour'. Most in real time, some with some parts sped up to knock a couple of hours off. The PMDG 747-400 is the best add-on by miles!

I just read the post again and now see that you were not going for RTW.
I did a SWA multi leg route, 4 legs, can't remember where though. Just randomly picked a real flight from flightaware and copied it. Tried to stay on time which can be tough with the weather and what not.

I started one in January of 2008 with the default King Air 350 and have gone:

DVT (Deer Valley Airport in Phoenix, AZ)
Torrey Pines (San Diego, CA)
FAT (Fresno, CA)
Boeing Field (Seattle)
Alaska (Juneau, Sitka, Anchorage, Adak, Unalaska)
Chita, Japan
Tokyo
Beijing
Macau
Hanoi
Bangkok
Kathmandu
Mt. Everest basecamp and back to Kathmandu
southern India
Male
somewhere to Dubai
Around the east coast of Africa to Johannesburg
Johannesburg to 4th of February (in Luanda?)

My average flight has been less than 1200 nm and I'm on Leg 20. I've gotten bored with it for now and so my poor King Air (tail #9900X) is stuck in Luanda waiting for me to move on with it. I've taken air tours in Beijing (Bell JetRanger), Mt Everest (Maule 260 Turbo thing), and Male (the Beaver with floats). I've taken screen shots thorought with the intention of posting them somewhere but like I said, I got bored.

Cheers,
KPHX Flyer

Last year when I was flying with Cargolux Virtual I flew a round the world flight with them.

Something like
LUX-SIN
SIN-MEL
MEL-AUK
AUK-LAX
LAX-LUX

Thing is its a scheduled flight and AFAIK CV really operate an around the world route!

Anyways this got me thinking of doing one off my own back. A "charter" if you like. Which I flew about a month later.

LUX-LHR
LHR-LAS
LAS-HNL
HNL-SYD
SYD-MLE
MLE-LUX

All flights were flown in real time in my trusted PMDG 747-400.  Smile

In my eyes the Boeing 747 will ALWAYS be the queen of the skies!

I have just landed back at LHR on the last of 19 legs from RAK in a RAM 737-800. I started 22nd Nov and flew 28,606nm in all. An average of 1505nm for each leg. The farthest leg was NAN-HNL and the shortest LHR-BUD. Now what should I do?
p.s. I like to fly the 737-800, 767-300ER and 747-400.

I just finished up my fourth leg of my RTW trip in MAD. I am making a point to land on at least one airport in every continent (yes, even Anarctica). I'm using the POSKY 736.
My planned route:

ORF-SFJ-LHR-KBP-MAD-DLA-CPT-EBB-SDA-OVB-ICN-ZAM-ASP-HBA-CHC-NZPG (Pegasus Field, McMurdo Station, Antarctica)-PUQ-BSB-BOG-PVR-SEA-MSY-CUR-ORF

23 legs with a total distance of 43746 nm.

Here's what the route looks like:
