So I'm having a very strange issue with add-on planes, both flyable and AI. I recently added a GIV (user flyable) and a complete mexican AI package and the aircraft show up as all white, i.e. the textures are not loading. I've checked the CFG files for the GIV and everything checks out fine in my eyes. All the folders are where they should be. The default planes work fine. And yes I do have the latest drivers and all that good stuff, I just built this computer.
Interestingly enough my Air Tran and Alaska Airlines World-of-AI planes show up fine. Those are the only other AI packs I have for now.
I've googled this issue and came up with no results. I've tweaked a lot of settings and have had no luck. Any ideas?

Have you got the DX10 preview switched on? if so, any of the old FS9 based AI add-ons will not display the textures.
From my understanding the only way to get around this is to use something like UT2, which I believe are made for FSX and are DX10 / SP2 compatible. Otherwise you need to switch off the DX10 preview to make them work properly.

Aaah yes! Makes sense I completely overlooked that.

It worked, but It gave me a massive hit on performance. I managed to do the impossible and maxed out all settings and with DX10 I rarely got less than 20FPS, and had it limited to 30. Now In DX9 mode I'm lucky If i get over 10FPS. Sigh

Switching to Windows 7 will give you another boost. DX10 grafics are way faster than DX9 grafics, but only on DX10 format. If you want to have high frame rates, keep your FSX clean of FS9 stuff. For AI Traffic, this means you either have to use the FS9 planes converted to FSX format, like Just Flight has done, and UT2 has done with a part of their planes, or use native new FSX DX10 AI planes, which are only available in MyTraffic ( and a part of them licensed to UT2 ).
