Hi all, I realize there are topics like this but I thought I'd start a new one since there was an update to the Mac lineup recently. I was thinking of getting a 15" MacBook Pro or a 24" iMac and I was wondering what kind of performance I can expect from fs2004/fsx in terms of fps/ scenery detail level, etc. Im not the one to have multiple add ons such as active sky, etc but I do have a few such as the wilco airbus series 1 & 2, and mega airport heathrow. Im in fact curious to know whether the wilco will work because it failed to install on my old computer and only worked on my friends quad core PC!

MacBook Pro
15-inch: 2.8GHz
Intel Core 2 Duo

500GB hard drive
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT with 512MB
or
iMac
24-inch: 3.06GHz
Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB memory
1TB hard drive
NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 with 512MB memory

Here's an example of the MacBook Pro's performance with Flight Simulator 9, iirc.

You are talking about my computer I would actually not recommend it for flight sim as it gets pretty hot. I do love my MBP, but I don't think I would choose it for flightsimmin!
I would go with the iMac, but if you need the portability go for the MacBook Pro. Mine runs FS9 with addons galore quite well.

Yeah. I was amazed with the preformance of that little laptop. I thought it'd be like some $2,000 PC you were using. Also, don't you have to install XP/Vista/Win7 to use FS on a Mac?

Yes you do. I have a 1,5 year old 15" MBP with 2,2ghz and 128mb graphics card, and it can run FS9 with PMDG/LDS without problems with 30fps, but as UAL757 said, I wouldn't recommend it for FS, but that is more due to screen size...
