Where To Get FSX Plane Txtrs Compatible With DX10?

So I reinstalled FSX after ruining my gaming hard drive and I'm starting to tweak it. Thing is, unlike apparently everybody else in the world, I run it in DX10 preview mode because it is significantly faster, stutters less, is more stable AND looks better than in DX9 mode. Of course the downside being that EVERY add-on plane I've run into just looks white because the textures wont work with DX10 on. I've scoured all over fligthsim, simviation and all the other major FS websites I can think of but I've had no luck.

Anybody know where to find these elusive DX10 compatible add-on planes?

I have a hunch that they would be payware only..

See if the realair planes are DX10. They're really well crafted.

The white planes are made in FS9 code. This is completely different to the FSX code created by the FSX SDK. FS8/FS9 mdl format basically is the old bgl type format, building point lists, building lists of polygons connecting these points, applying textures on these. FS9 or FSX take these lists, interprete them, and create calls to the Direct X grafics for them. The software part to convert bgl to direct X 10 calls never was written, only the part for DX9.
Contrary to that, the FSX models are native Directdraw packages themselves. That is how a 60000 polygon plane performs faster under FSX than a 6000 polygon plane under FS9 - but only when written in FSX format, and not interpreted in the CPU.

Even if you had the GMAX source code of the original plane, converting from DX9 to DX10 is by far not trivial and having made hundred aircraft for FSX now, I would estimate to be at least 90% of the work of an all new approach - that you want to do anyway since you no longer save on polygons, but on drawcalls, so this conversion would neither give an optical nor a performance plane state of the art.

Bummer, my HD4870s just do not like DX9 for whatever reason. But they run DX10 and 10.1 at blazing speeds.

So just use clean FSX addons only. You will be astonished how fast this will be once your CPU has not to translate every triangle into a pre historic language - and how great the true FSX add ons look.
