FSX works great on my Dell XPS M1530 upgraded to Windows 7 so far. No compatibility mode needed. The only issue I had was in adding add-on scenery...FSX seems to be having a little trouble adding it in the scenery database. When you click add area, it doesn't add. Do a Google search and you will find others with the same issue. There is a workaround by clicking in the white area of the window and FSX will load the scenery or something like that. I don't have too much add-on scenery as of late, but can confirm with the ones I do have that the workaround does work. As always too, make sure you have the latest drivers.

I've just got a new PC working with Windows 7; I got FS9 installed and running with no problems at all, but having now attempted to transfer a whole heap of stuff from my old PC (~60GB of aircraft etc) and then reinstalling FS9 again, I can't get beyond about 5 seconds of starting up before it freezes and closes.

FS9 works like a charm.
Anyway as the others also have noticed, sometimes some sceneries doesn't add into library, so you have to add them manually on scenery.cfg! It's just a few of sceneries. Otherwise, works better than in XP. Just my opinion.
