I have a Uniden BC246T and I'm looking to enter a Trunking system, specifically the Air Canada system at YYZ. http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=3347 I'm pretty proficient with regular conventional systems, but have never added a Trunking system. I assume I just add the four control channels: 852.72500, 852.82500, 853.05000, 853.15000.
Then add the ID talkgroups, 16, 32, 48 etc? Unfortunately I'm not in the YYZ area to test it untill I fly though YYZ on the 21st and 4th.

Hopefully someone can shed some light on this

You need to add all the channels into the scanner. The scanner converts the control channel info into the correct voice channel data and then switches to that channel. If all you have is the control chamnnels, it wont know where to switch to. Some of the new ones will work with just control channels but not as fast. Also make sure you tell the scanner that it is a Motorola type 2 system on each channel that you put in.

And if you put in talkgroups, make sure you are in ID scan not search, or you will get every user on the system, and it wont follow any one talkgroup.

I program trunking scanners all the time here at work, we use BC780's, BCT 8's, and BCT15x's for use in our patrol cars. But I mainly use programming software to do this---so much easier to use than the front panel.
