Quoting YWGfarmer (Reply 1): I cannot wait for the 777 from PMDG. I'm very excited for that.
Me too! Cant wait for that. But I am guessing we still have a good 10 months IMO.
I do not fun FSX yet as I am going to get a new PC to run it. But I do own a few add ons for FSX already and I am planning on getting a few more. I also cant wait for NGX either. Those will be two must buys for me.
I just wish someone would come out with some MIA scenary, the default in FSX is old and I cant seem to find any decent freeware for MIA.
Add Ons:
CLS DC-10 it works for FS9 and FSX
PMDG 747-400X
Digital Aviation F-100/70 FS9 and FSX
I plan on getting:
Level-D 767-300ER
FS PassengerX
Ultimate Traffic II or My Traffic X
I am not sure what my favourite will be yet of course but I am going to guess PMDG 744 with FSPX and Ultimate Traffic Running.

You will have problems to find many aircraft and airlines that are not in MyTraffic X with its 150+ models and 4500+ paints of 1900 airlines ... I just prepared the new voice modifications for the next version ( 5.3 professional) and counted more than 500 airlines that are not in the EDVP community changes, so never have been looked at by any of the AI packages.
If you find some not extremely tiny ones, tell me...
It uses the standard AI way of FSX, so you can either use the various tools that come with MyTraffic or any other tool that is based on FSX Trafficdatabasebuilder. If you prefer to use tools based on ttools, you have to convert the flight plans to FSX format, there are several tools for this on the internet. UT2 has an own way to inject AI traffic, so both can live together very nicely and do not interfere.

Quoting FlyMIA (Reply 4):
Do you think My Traffic X is better then Ultimate Traffic II is it easy to edit and add flight plans, aircraft and airlines to my traffic?
I did not actually make any large adjustments to the flight plans or such but all I did was edit some aircraft types for airlines, such as GA does not operate B767s anymore but MTX is still showing that they are operating it.

In this case, open the data base, edit the type, set th ending year to 2009, your actuay year to 2010, run a create all files and traffic and it will be gone.
This said, UT2 isn't a bad program either, just when I last used it it was not possible to modify their flight plans at all, maybe this has changed in the last months.

Wilco 777 is a joke - no wing flex - very unrealistic texture, put me off Wilco
I have F50/F70 - excellent model with moving pilots
ATR-42
PMDG 747-400 is great but very demanding so I now purchase the CLS 'Flite Lite' products since I am not needing most of the PMDG functions anyways. Can't wait to purchase the 767...
I also have the airports of BRU-LHR-CDG-FRA-LIS-MAD and can't wait for Luxemburg airports...

Ther seems to be little interest in ground scenery here, but products like VFR Germany or Switzerland professional provide a terrain detail unheared of.

Apparently the Orbx Pacific Northwest is amazing scenery. Since I only fly large jets ground scenery means basically nothing to me, as it all appears as dots from 36,000 feet...
I like the addon airports though. Needed to buy a heck of a machine to make them smooth.
I am also looking forward to the PMDG 737NGX. I have the original PMDG 737 for FS9 which is still pretty good but compared to the 744 and MD11 you can tell PMDG has come a long way.
I have all kinds of payware for FS9 that I don't use anymore which is a shame but as soon as I heard of PMDG 777 and 748 for FSX only it was time to stop living in the stone age and upgrade
Granted I'm still not much of an FSX fan, if that's what devs are developing for then I guess I have to live with it. FS9 had far less CTD's and freezing issues than FSX had plus it was a lot easier on the computer system. FSX has some nicer effects though.
I've considered many times getting Radar Contact but I have a tendancy to put the built in ATC "to sleep" (Acknowledge a handoff then don't contact the next center) during cruise so I can "cheat" and go watch TV or something during the boring part of flight, not sure if RC allows that. I hate it when my IFR gets cancelled because I was waiting for those long miles to pass before things get interesting again. Plus their email registration stuff seems like a hassle.

Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone. I always do that too! Especially on long haul flights!

Quoting Initious (Reply 10): I recently bought the FlyTampa St Maarten scenery. It looks really nice and realistic!
And it's relatively easy on the frame rate.... anything outside of SXM and I get about 15FPS. SXM itself gives me about 7 or 8, which isn't too bad with FSX.

I ended up buying Radar Contact. It's pretty nice and it does have a "co-pilot" that they refer to as Otto who you can hand the radios off to if you desire to leave the computer. Flew from KSDF to PANC yesterday in the PMDG MD-11 and after takeoff I had to run to town to get propane for the BBQ. When I got back the flight was exactly as it should be, plus all appropriate centers were contacted.
I like it for the most part. Lack of taxi instructions or gate assignments is kind of annoying. Some folks on Avsim have some methods I'm gonna try to get around that by using MS ATC just for the taxi part of the flight.
