The creme of the crop of course, are PMDG's 747, MD-11 and the 737NG (which are only for FS9 and not nearly as advanced as the other two). As far as jets go, I also like Wilco's 737 PIC, Flight1's Super 80 and their Greatest Airliners 727. Wilco's E-jets are good too.

Turboprops: AeroWorx X-treme King Air, Flight1's Pilatus PC-12, Lionheart Creations' Epic LT Dynasty and Quest Kodiak, Wilco's A400M is not super-realistic, but it scores points for coolness...

GA aircraft: I don't have a lot of payware airplanes for GA, but one I do have any absolutely LOVE is Carenado's V-tail Bonanza.

I personally like the Level-D 767. A joy to fly, easy to learn with the included manual, and just an awesome model.

I'll also agree with THEBATMAN's poin about the PMDG products - they're amazing. Look out for the PMDG 777 sometime in the near future. All of the PMDG products are top notch.

For GA a/c Just Flight's Flying Club is a pretty good package

4 aircraft multiple liveries and a pretty good repainting kit (by all accounts - I never use it myself...too dumb!)

Aerosim makes a pretty good twin otter, and a decent Dash-8 Q400 (awesome sound package though). There might be better versions of both, but those are the ones I have. I also have the CLS A340 500/600 and it's pretty good. Not even close to being on par with PMDG or Level-D, but fun to fly. Can't help you with a "good" A321...

Forgot to mention...Flight1 makes a very nice ATR 72-500. Aerosoft also makes a Twin Otter, but it's only for FSX. Ok, I'm done now.

I have the DHC8-Q300 from Majestic but the soundpack seems configured for the cabin mainly. Can someone tell me how to have the sounds reflect different environments i.e. cabin/outdoor?

It depends how complex you want to get but if you want a real idea of what its like to fly a regional jet I would recommend the MD82 Maddog from LeonardoSH. On its own its massivly complex and then get a copy of FsCrew for the maddog that gives you a co pilot that will respond to checklist items and help you set up the aircraft for diffrent phases of flight. Also the maddog version of FScrew uses voice recognition software so for instance you can say Flaps or gear and the copilot will set them while you fly without taking you hands off the stick -).

I also fly the J41 from PMDG thats FSX only but its getting fscrew soon so I can look forward to that. And the MD11 from the same company is also very good.

Flying the PMDG 747 now FRA-SFO. Terrific company and thye make amazing products. Can't wait for their 777.

Wilco's E-jets are good too.

I enjoy flying these aircraft a lot, good package as well.

Another great plane to fly, not overly complicated but is very realistic.

I would recommend Wilco's A32S package (contains A318, 320, 321) and you can purchase an expansion for the A319. Excellent quality and I ahve ahd this package a while. They also ahve "volume 2" which is their A330/A340. Again great package. I recommend getting jsut one first, as they are similar and if you like they way the package is done get the other. Happy flying!

ABSOLUTELY. I just picked it up and made my first flight in Delta livery from ORD-ATL. It definitely has made my "MUST-HAVE" list. Great airplane.

I've always been impressed with Carenado products. If you're into GA you should definitely check them out.

The VRS F18 from http://forums.vrsimulations.com/FA18EFS9.htm. Since the FSX version came out a few days ago I only fly that now hehe.
But the FS9 version is still very good with first class support from the guys that created it.

Nowhere... FSX only, PMDG.

737NG

Calling this "cream of crop" strikes me as somwhat odd. Granted, it is pretty old. 8 years, is it? NGX on its way though.

I was referring to the 747 and MD-11 when talking about the "creme". I did include the 737NG (it is an oldie but a goodie), but threw out the disclaimer that it wasn't as good as the other two:

Certainly didn't mean to confuse anyone. ALL of PMDG's products are good. I still fly their B1900 quite a bit!
