I can't seem to find any decent discussion on some of the AI traffic addons for FSX. Most of what I find is quite outdated.
I've got an i7 860, 8GB DDR3 1600, and a GTX 470, and I get about 35 FPS at major airports (with jetways, no AI, including ground vehicles) and 50+ away from airports, display settings all on ultra high. I haven't tweaked a line in FSX.cfg though - so that could change.
I gave World of AI a shot - but I saw planes landing on the threshold and turning off the runway at the second taxiway, plus my frames went down to ~10. I'd love something with a lower impact on FPS.
I don't care much about real life schedules, but its a perk if everything else is the same. I just want some life in the sim. I don't care too much about the cost either, so long as it is good. GA would be a bonus, but I don't mind making my own schedules for the GA airports I usually fly in and out of.

To get decent frame rates, you need an addon that uses models created with FSX SDK SP2 ( and contain the draw call stacking introduced by this ), with anything based on FS8 or FS9 code like WOAI you will find no luck. There are no FSX SP2 AI models in the freeware scene - making them is a factor of 8-10 more time consuming than for FS8 or FS9.
So you have three options:
1. )Justflights traffic. Decent collection of airliners, limited optical detail, good framerates, some cargo and military, schedules not realistic, no airport updated to fit schedule requirments, frozen about 2 years ago.
2.) Ultimate traffic 2. Good collection of airliners with better optical detail, many of them licensed from c), airlines only, no cargo, military, charter etc.
3.) MyTraffic X from Simmarket. By far more models, airlines and paints than the two above together, many models very detailed, best frame rates, schedules partially from real world data, partially random, a lot of Cargo, charter, General Aviation and military, enhancing more than 2000 airport based on real world traffic needs, in continous development. MyTraffic 2010 from Aerosoft is a large subset of this, more consumer oriented.

Sounds like the one to go with - thanks for the suggestions!
The above post is my opinion. Don't like it? Don't read it.

Quoting ALTF4 (Reply 3): Well, apparently some people got offended by my username
I meant the "Joined Dec 1969" bit.
I thought your user name was funny. I do that all the time like :
Wottled Botter (bottled water)
Dome Hepo (Home Depot)
Cop Porn (popcorn)
Fart and Sminal (Smart and Final. A volume grocery store here in the US)
It does have some cargo, Fed Ex and UPS are the major cargo companies it is missing, airlines like Amerjet, ABX, Korean Cargo are there.
I have Ultimate Traffic 2 from Just Flight and I love it! The schedules are very realistic and the frame rates have been pretty good. It is very easy to add add on schedules from online or create your own schedules. It has just about any major to small airline you will think of, and it has a good amount of GA. If you fly in mostly large airports and in Europe and the US UT2 will be the best thing. If you are doing more GA flying, Military or exotic destinations like Afgahnistan or the Marshall Islands My Traffic might be a better bet. But try out UT2 its about $60 and you have 30 days to try it out if you dont like it you can return it back. Flight-1 support is fantastic!
