Hi all,
I was browsing Youtube and came across this very impressing video of a Boeing 737 flight simulator. The flight deck looks realistic and everything appears very well. However, the simulator seems to be running on MSFS. Do you think MSFS is realistic enough to be running on such a simulator? And do you know about comparable simulators that are being around?

I always say that if I win the lottery, I will buy myself one of those things, I can play around with it and then rent it out to airlines to train crews (they cost a lot of money, so you have to get something back)

I dont think MSFS has any influence on that sim whatsoever other than the graphics. I'm pretty sure it must have its own dedicated and proprietary flight dynamics and motion systems. I'd like to know what category of sim this is, looks like a very cheapened up level C sim.

Based on the information I've got from the website this sim appears to be for the training of crews too. Also for recreational customers.

Do you think the MSFS graphics are better than the regular flight sim software? I don't know about the category, it appears to be build by enthusiasts and not by any flight school.

I mean, if you build this kind of sim as a recreational tool or for crew training (basic) I would say they are, you can load up any of the add-on airports available which will give the customer a pretty nice idea of what is like to be out there.
I suppose Level D sims have a custom software better suited to training requirements.

If by regular you mean actual Level D graphics then for the most part yes. The real level D/C 737 sims I flew had very disappointing graphics. I'd be generous to say they're at FS2000 standards I'll put it that way, and these sims were months old at the time.
There are extremely advanced graphics out there for full motion sims that put MSFS to shame but fact of the matter is they are extremely expensive, and quite frankly, nobody uses them because as you're constantly flying within clouds or fog (for IFR training purposes). I'll put it this way, when I did my 737 initial course I logged 26 hours in full motion sims, of which 2 hours at most actually involved seeing anything but clouds or fog, we pretty much flew with a gray screen the whole time.

Thank you both for elaborating. Is see that simulator training is nothing like a simple VFR flight. Therefore scenery doesn't matter. I think performing easy and nice weather flights is what these guys are up for. So this sim must be great for that purpose.

Wow, I thought my experience in the "Flight Experience" simulator was great enough, this is even better! If I had one of those I think I'd be at home for the whole day.
