I've tried so many things to install addon scenery, it just doesn't want to work :/
Before I start, I am using Windows 7, on my laptop so obviously I cant run it at very high setting at all, it is very close to minimum, but I'm fine with that, I just want the airports to have photo-real scenery etc etc
I found this on the internet:
First find your scenery from your favorite download site.
Here you will find a good upto date list of scenery for FSX (and older fs incarnations)listed by country http://walhalla.mine.nu/fsx.php
FSX is simple to work with as most scenery downloads now come ready to just place in the correct folder
For this example I am going to use and install Tim Clayton's jersey.zip (found at avsim)
Open up the download with the default zip file tool(or other tool you have installed)
Next open up the "Addon Scenery" folder in FSX (default location is "C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator XAddon Scenery")
And thats all there is to do here.
Next start FSX,goto "Settings" and then "Scenery Library",click "Add Area" and the FSX folder will be displayed, double click the "Addon Scenery" folder and click "Jersey".Now click OK and OK again.FSX will now rebuild the scenery and a progress bar will be displayed
But it just wont work!
When I go to "settings" and then "scenery library", click "add area" I get it, I go to addon scenery, and then the folder I downloaded appears, I click on it, then click on scenery and the folder is empty. I can't click ok, it just doesn't do anything. I have also tried clicking on the white space which I have read around on the internet.
I downloaded Jersey, and Muscat airport, and it appears on the list and the I click ok and it says building scenery etc, But nothing changes when I go to that airport.
Do I have to have my settings up high to see it? (Which my laptop will not be able to handle)
Please Help, it all looks like it is going fine, but it just doesn't happen.

That is a tiny bug of fsx with Vista and W7. When, instead of adding the scenery, the scenery folder opens, just click into it at an unsed location, and it will close. Unused is an area hat does not trigger any action when you go with the cursor about it, so maybe you did not find the right white spot?

Quoting virginblue4 (Reply 2): But I can do that, and it disappears and it even says it is done and it is building the new scenery, it just wont work :/
I assume that on the disk (under My Computer) there is something in the 'scenery' folder? If so, then you just need to click on the main folder for that scenery ('Jersey' or whatever it's called- the one that contains 'scenery' and 'texture').
Alternatively, if there are just BGLs and no textures for this scenery, you can put all of them in the 'scenery/name/scenery' folder in 'Addon Scenery and activate that.
