I just went on to Amazon looking for something to buy, and noticed this in my recommendations: Airport Simulator (PC CD)
Description:
Quote:
Manage your airport!
You’ve got one of the hardest jobs in the world – managing an entire airport! Assigning incoming planes to a gate is only the start. Then it’s up to you to control every aspect of operations, from the boarding steps and baggage carts to the maintenance crews and fuel tankers.
Handle the constant flow of aircraft efficiently, take control of all in-game vehicles, and every timely departure will earn your airport money. The better you run your airport, the more cash you’ll have to invest in new vehicles and staff to expand and automate your operation. With as many as eight incoming aircraft to deal with at any one time, only the best tactical planners will succeed!
Realistic announcements, detailed aircraft, the rumble of jet engines and ever-changing weather all add to the fascinating atmosphere of your busy international airport.
Looks interesting! Does anyone know any more info about this?

I wish they'd make a new version of Airport Tycoon (the first one, not the crappy sequels). It was flawed, but overall, a pretty fun game that allowed you to construct from scratch your airport, it's facilities, the airlines/cargo, and deal with security issues and disasters, etc.
I'd love to see a game with that same premise polished up with 2011 graphics and other features like customizable runways, improved slot management system, etc.

Thats what I was hoping for when I saw this game - but when you read the description, it seems more focused about running the day to day operations of the airport, rather than developing the airport itself

Just looked it up in Amazon's US store. It's available for download. It also looks like a piece of genuine garbage.

It is. I've tried it. Confusingly, the overall "goal" seems to be to make enough money to buy "agents" so that you don't have to drive each vehicle to each aircraft personally. So the goal is to minimize actual gameplay. Same airport, same planes, all that changes is that the number of aircraft on the ground increases over time, but still not very many. And driving said vehicles is a pain. Plenty of bugs in that system too. Plus, it's so far the only computer game to actually make me motion sick.
Cheers
Mats
Sure, we're concerned for our lives. Just not as concerned as saving 9 bucks on a roundtrip to Ft. Myers.
