Hi everyone,
I am unsure about some routes that British Airways used to operate out of LGW. They are Mauritius, Seychelles, Dar es Salaam, Entebbe, Lilongwe and Nairobi.
Some of these flights still stand today, but my question is, were they direct services with no stops and what aircraft was operated on these routes?
Also I have been having a look on Gatwick Archive Movements and seen that, for example the British Airways Mauritius flight from Gatwick arrived very early in the morning and departed very late at night, which is very different to the arrival and departure times of British Airways flights to Mauritius these days. I wondered if anyone had any information about this?
I would also appreciate it if anyone has any old British Airways timetables, could get in touch and send a copy of them to me please.

Not sure about the others but I know for a fact the NBO flight was a direct flight from LGW, there was an incident back in 2000 where a passenger tried to hijack the aircraft and crash the aircraft into the ground.

I thought that was a flight that routed LGW-NBO-SEZ, or was that only certain days?
Interestingly, at the time, BA pilots defended having the cockpit door unlocked as it allowed passengers to assist in this case. Unfortunate events a few months later changed that.

I have a timetable from 28 March-30 October 1999, and it has the following information:
NBO: BA 2069 1234567 744 D 22:25 A: 08:50 +1 *nonstop*
Mauritius: BA 2063 5 only 744 D 22:05 A: 12:10 +1
BA 2069 27 744 D: 22:25 A: 15:20 +1
Entebbe: BA 2067 14 744 D: 23:00 A: 09:15 +1 *nonstop*
BA 2069 5 744 D: 22:25 A: 11:50 +1
Dar Es Salaam: BA 2069 14 744 D: 22:25 A: 12:30 +1
Lilongwe: BA 2053 5 only 744 D: 21:30 A: 10:40 +1 (2053 is nonstop to Harare on 1356, arriving at 08:15, and continued on to Lilongwe on Fridays)
Seychelles: BA 2069 36 744 D: 22:25 A: 14:40 +1
It appears BA2069 went LGW-NBO-Dar Es Salaam on Monday and Thursday, LGW-NBO-Mauritius on Tuesday and Sunday, LGW-NBO-Seychelles on Wednesday and Saturday, and LGW-NBO-Entebbe on Friday. All flights were operated by a 747-400.
