My first contribution in a while, finally got my new PC up and running, but am still tweaking FS9 and installing my custom AI. Took a break from that to take a flight from ORD-PGD with a Legacy 600. However after take off I ran into mechanical problems over LAF to where I could not climb above FL240, so I diverted to HUF for some software upgrades to my legacy 600 (new FDE installed).
KLM Asia B747-400
British Airways B777
Holding for American Connection
Holding for an American Airlines B767-300, love the winglets on this bird!
On my takeoff roll I meet the United Airlines B747-400 who is taxing to the gate
Climbing out, Chicago in the background
Heading into the clouds
My diversion airport in the background, HUF, getting into the pattern for a visual on Rwy 32
Hope I can find a good Embraer mechanic here, not much traffic though
I am the biggest bird into this airport in my sim, other biggest bird that HUF sees is a D328-100 from Berry Aviation
The mechanic found a new FDE (the original FDE with the aircraft and not the one in the Posky ERJ FDE Upgrade) and updated the aircraft with it, and I took it out on a test flight between HUF-OWB-HUF and ran into no problems. Climbed up to FL280 with no problem. Looks like tomorrow I can resume my flight to PGD.

I'd be a lot more help to you on that 744...
So I've been watching this show on the weather channel called "Coast Guard Alaska", and that's inspired me to hop into a HC-130 and fly from PANC to PADQ: (haven't posted in a while, so if this is lengthy I apologize)
Engines started, ready to taxi
Taxiing out to the runway
And we're off
Up and up we go, where she stops, nobody knows...(actually I do, it's FL190)
Ok, making our descent into Kodiak
Runway 25 in sight
Touching down
I'm thinking we're going to go to the hangar on the left???
Quoting THEBATMAN (Reply 2): Up and up we go, where she stops, nobody knows...(actually I do, it's FL190)
That's a great pic. I love the airports that we don't really get to see much of.
I downloaded the HJG 717 & was really excited about it. I was doing a KF flt from KUO - HEL. I got FISD FS Nordic scenery but I don't think my ENIAC could handle it. Also the 717 panel wasn't the Mae West (it did say that it wasn't known if it was supported in anything other than XP so that could maybe explain the 5+ ctd's I had). Only a short hop but it was crap. Waaah. Nonetheless I think I got some nice shots.
Wana dedicate these to EDICHC!
Aurora Borealis cheered me up a little.
Descending for HEL

I almost had a good shot of that UA B744 landing, but as it was landing, an A321 from US that landed short and taxied into the runway and then turned into my taxiway, ruined the shot. I linked it to a bad AFCAD file and with it being in the first 15 minutes of opening up the flight. I have replaced the AFCAD file and will soon be replacing the default ORD with the FS Dreamteam ORD.
Quoting aerdingus (Reply 4): Me too! I love that you kept it realistic & diverted lol!
There was no way I was going to cruise at FL240, so I had to divert. Plus the FDE i was using, when I turned, my plane lost about 2000ft during the turn. I didn't want to have to put up with that for two and a half hours!
The mechanics at HUF repaired the flight system in my Legacy 600 and I was able to continue my flight to PGD. Later in the day, I chartered a Cessna 402C and flew PGD-SFB, giving me a chance to check out a recently installed new freeware scenery for SFB.
Been into PGD a few times now and have not caught their commercial traffic, Allegiant Airlines and Direct Air.
Up in the air for my short flight to central Florida.
Cruising along at FL070
Flying past "the other Orlando airport", MCO.
A few seconds from touchdown at SFB.
The SFB scenery has a static AI boneyard in the distance.
Off of the active runway, heading to general aviation parking, and passing another static AI boneyard.
Soon to be heading back to the United Kingdom, taking people away from the Mouse Kingdom.
Behind the G4 gates is yet another static AI boneyard.
Parked next to a generic Challenger.
The SFB scenery was nice, a lot of static AI boneyards and I think some static general aviation as well. But they did not impact the framerates any and they appeared to be out of the way.

Back to ANC we go. I found a CV repaint for PMDG's MD-11F, so we'll do some long-haul from ANC to HKG .
On taxi out
Ready for take-off
Houses and buildings getting smaller
Climbing out (the textures in the inlet for #2 engine look kinda weird, right?)
Up at our cruise altitude of FL360 (is it getting brighter?)
Starting our descent
That's the new HKG, we're not going there...
Ahhh...the old checker board Kai Tak approach (you can see the checker at approx 10 o'clock). Much better!

A winner shot right there.
Aerdingus and myself tried to locate the checkerboard when we were in HKG in Nov, alas we could not find it mostly because it was already dark, secondly because I totally missed the park where it is, and thirdly because since the closure of Kai Tak they had no need to repaint it. But you can still see some of it.

Last night I took a 9E CR9 out for a spin between ORD-JFK. First night flight I've done in a while. I think I prefer day flying though.
Pushing back and it looks like I started up at the wrong terminal and gate. Should be at T2 and not T3. Oh well, I hope AE does not mind.
Overflying PWK, where I took my first two (and so far only) flight lessons. Airport is busy in real life, and if I had a proper AFCAD it would be busy in FS9 too. As I looked down and saw it was empty, I wondered why. After my flight I looked at the AFCAD and all parking spots were not connected to taxi links. Not sure how the author of the file could miss that!
One bird heading east with me and the other heading west.
Four birds heading west, wonder what I missed?
Turning to intercept 31L ILS at JFK
Departing traffic as I near the runway
AA and SQ waiting for me to make it to the ground
Almost got a scrape
Slowing down after letting the people on the right side of the plane get a better view of the runway.

First flight in a while. Took the Posky BBJ up for a spin. A corporation here in the Chicago area keeps theirs out at DPA in the western suburbs. And I took it up today for a short flight between DPA-BOS.
Cold overcast day in the Chicago area, snow is coming.
Pushing back to head to 2L for departure.
Whats a matter, could not afford a real business jet?
DPA has runways plenty long enough for the BBJ.

The other day I finally found a working panel CFG for the POSKY 777 for FSX, and now I've gone about crazily adding models and soundpacks and liveries...but I did take time out to fly it a little bit! Here's one Delta's 777-200LRs, operating a 'proving run' from SAV to ATL:
Departing Savannah. The 110,000-lb-thrust GE90s made short work of the takeoff run
Lifting off to the east off of runway 10
Cruising at 28,000 feet
Elegantly curvaceous wings. I used this angle because it hides the worst of the fuselage lightmaps for this particular livery.
Turning toward Atlanta at 3,000 feet
I didn't take any pictures of the approach because visibility dropped to about 1/8 mile, so I was pretty much focused on the landing. Other than that, enjoy!

No, I am an X-Plane 9 user because I run Apple systems. I have used both, however. I prefer the physics engine in X-plane, but the scenery, online community, and aircraft are more developed in FSX by far.

Sorry for the big post here, this was my first long distance flight, taking the Posky BBJ from DPA-BFI-PAE. And before you get to them, yes that is the default B734 panel with the BBJ, I cannot find a panel that I like.
N88TY is the big dog at DPA, nothing else comes close to it's size. First time I saw it there in real life, I actually did a double take, not expecting to see it there.
Due to the overcast day, the runway is quickly fading away.
Fast forward to making my way into the Seattle area.
Some low lying clouds causing a nice scenic mountain and cloud view.
Overflying PAE as I head to BFI
Final for BFI
Taking a quick 30 minute break at BFI, gave me time to grab a bite to eat.
With a lighter fuel load I was up in the air quick!
Banking away from SEA
Back to the low lying clouds
I couldn't help myself with these shots, I couldn't get enough of them
I need to find this airport, it looks like it could be fun
There is ground down there, somewhere
And there it is, the default B734 panel
Even though the low level clouds are not that bad, I am still glad for ILS
Final for PAE
Some B772LRs in primer and a few B788s are visible to the left
More factory traffic
I am not a fan of the new JAL livery, I like this one much better.
A lonely B772LR destined for Singapore Airlines.
Ethiopian's first B788 waiting for delivery
Ummm, couple of these birds here do not fit in so well. And the parking, how are they going to get the planes out? I need to edit that AFCAD.
Cool, love the Jackson Hole shots. I especially liked the CR9 into JFK though! All the CRJ shots, keep them coming! And the POSKY 777 is nice too. Glad you found a good panel. I did the PSS/POSKY 777 merge on FS9 a while ago, and love it. PSS 777 panel and flight dynamics + the POSKY 777 model and VC is nice.
I love that BBJ scheme. I sometimes drive by DPA hoping to see it moving, but usually when I am there, she is not. But now that Flightaware is showing her registration, I can now try to get there when it should be arriving/leaving. Right now that BBJ is in the virtual hangar at PAE as I am now flying some other metal. Last night did a flight with the Posky B777-200LRF, kind of a test flight from PAE-GTF-PAE. When I landed at GTF it was funny seeing the small general aviation planes there, they looked like ants compared to the mighty GE engines on the LRF! My next flight in a few days will be a long one. FS Navigator puts it at about 11,000 miles, and I am not even leaving the United States!
This actually happens to be more fun in FS...Even though the original happens to be alot of fun while I haven't had a chance to try the fighters in real life...
Tornadoes in glaciated regions are unprecedented natural events, so I thought I'd start the trend.

And my B787-8 flight is still going, might need to cut it short, I might have been over zealous with my planning. So far I have flown PAE-ANC-HNL-SAN and am sitting at about 55% fuel. My goal was to cross the US to the East Coast and head back to PAE. Because I have been so busy after work, I have only flown a few hours for the past few nights, and am then pausing FS9 as I go to work. But so far i took off at 6:00am local time in Seattle, flew north, never really saw much daylight as I headed towards ANC but then as I flew to HNL, I saw daylight and now my FS9 time is at 8:40pm or so in California. It will be almost 24 hours in the logbook probably.

Yesterday I wrapped up a completely and probably unrealistic B787-8 endurance test flight using the freeware Camsim B787-8v3 model. I am sharing 18 pictures here that I took during my 30.5 hours of this flight....that's why I am saying it was unrealistic. But that time also includes 1 hour spent on the ground as I had to refuel about 3/4 of the way through the flight. My route was PAE-ANC-HNL-SAN-DEN-BRO-MEM-MSP-EYW-BGR-CIU-PAE. I am not sure what the red crap is in some of the night pictures, those were not in the sim, only in the screenshots. I am going to take a well deserved break from flying for a few days....just to install some new AI flightplans and textures I downloaded during this 30 hour flight.
Predawn departure out of PAE
Heading north towards ANC I got a view of the Northern lights
Overflying my first waypoint, ANC
Overflying my second waypoint, HNL
The moon was not my third waypoint
SAN was my third waypoint
My fourth waypoint was DEN
My fifth waypoint was BRO, Brownsville/South Padre Island, Texas.
My sixth waypoint was MEM
My seventh waypoint was MSP
As I headed towards the eighth waypoint the sun began to rise
My eighth waypoint was EYW
My ninth waypoint was in the north east corner of the US, BGR. 14% fuel left. I am starting to plan my fuel stop
And I decided for a short fuel stop at CIU, Chippewa County Airport, Michigan. Gave the local spotters there a treat!
After fuel and a $100,000 hamburger, back up in the air
I had other waypoints in mine, but I only loaded fuel up for 30% capacity, so I cut them short and flew direct to PAE
Home sweet home
Parked next to a line of B787s waiting final inspection and delivery
My total hours in the logbook were recorded as
Day 20.9
Night 9.6

I know that it looks like the flaps weren't extended, but that is some sort of bug when you use the instant replay to take the screenshots, the flaps retract again and I didn't know about that when I took them. But believe me, I had them extended

This weekend I finally broke down and installed Editvoicepack...and promptly wondered why I hadn't done it sooner! Here's a flight testing out the Pinnacle/Flagship callsign, FLG4291 JFK-YYZ:
Climbout from 31L with AA's T8 visible
Climbing to FL300 over the Hudson Valley
Finger Lakes region
At cruise
Turning and descending for YYZ
I don't have any pics beyond that since it was snowing with poor visibility, and I was focusing on that, but there ya go. Enjoy!

Quoting UltimateDelta (Reply 70): Do you have a filename? I tried different phrases but couldn't come up with anything.
On AVSIM, I downloaded this one, 788v38za4.zip. It is the v3 of the model. If you do a search of camsim 787 you will see some other v3 models/textures. I am not sure if the older model textures work on the new one. I was going to download the ANA delivery livery and recreate a delivery flight, but I do not have any good scenery for Japan, plus I am now only focusing on flying in the US.

After spending some time at PAE flying some new Boeing metal, I took out a BBJ2 and headed to LAX. And I have already found a new set of FDE that will hopefully fix the contact points issue with my rear wheels. And for a B738, I was thinking the fuel economy was bad, then I realized that I flew the entire flight with my flaps at 10%.
A B777 destined for EK is heading out for a test flight.
After what seemed to be forever of sitting at the ready position, the B777 finally rolled down the runway and took to the sky.
And I was hot on it's tail when it was my turn.
Climbing through some low level clouds.
Blurries, blurries, they are killing me! I shouldn't have them with this system.
Ground textures seem to be better there, no blurries. The blurries are going to drive me to drink (more).
Flaps down, wheels locked, ready for landing.
Going visual, as when I locked onto ILS, instead of heading towards the runway, I was heading south towards SAN.
In-N-Out Burger!
LAX terminals
Slowing down and trying to clear the runway as there was a wee little CRJ hot on my exhaust.
My first sighting of the new The Fruit Stand A380, parking way out in the penalty box.
Whoops, I was supposed to hang a right back there, oh well, I got a chance to see these guys.
On one runway the FX bird is slowing down after arriving and on the parallel runway the WN bird is taking to the sky.

Quoting Fabo (Reply 75): That is an aircraft.cfg issue, rather than FDE issue.
When I say FDE, I am talking the whole enchilada, the aircraft.cfg file and the .air file. I'll only tinker with the .cfg file for now, unless the .air file is an older one.

After years of struggling to get FSX to run properly on my PC I finally got it right. Almost every slider is maxed. 60FPS in cruise, 25ish FPS while in a terminal area and most airports. Mods include every WOAI package, FSGlobal 2010, REX OD controlled by AS2012, UTX, ENBseries among others I may be forgetting.
The following was more of a performance/benchmarking/eye candy test than a simulated flight. So the keen eyed will spot plenty of goofs/screw ups. I was basically f'ing around the airspace with the glorious PMDG NGX over the even more glorious MegasceneryEarth (Arizona, mainly PHX) in dawn/day/dusk. Then I suddenly got 300mb worth of screenshot diarrhea. And the results are here, not as good as others here but I'm pretty happy:

Oh the B787 plans were posted on the Alpha India forums and the B777-300ER plans I took from a Boeing traffic upload to AVSIM.
Over the weekend I took a short hop from LAX to SAN in the Posky ERJ135. I installed a new panel, which I was not a fan of. Will be looking for a new panel for my next ERJ flight.
At LAX, heading to the runway and passing some Delta metal.

Some great shots so far in this thread.
Here's a few from last nights CPA3272. Moving some cargo from freezing ANC to windy ORD in this wonderful "silver bullet" 744F.
Getting ready for pushback
Looks cold
A view on the apron in ANC - Tri-Holer-Heaven
Rotate with the mountains at the horizon
Gear up! Including the distinct Chugach Mountains in the back
Sunset at FL370
Final Approach into ORD 27L
And finally we park the silver bullet on the freight ramp and find us a cold beer somewhere in the Windy City
That's it for now, next leg on my CPA3272 eastbound round-the-world tour will be ORD to AMS. Hope you enjoyed this small selection.

Quoting MIAspotter (Reply 88): Look at the shine on her! beautiful, nice shots mate.
Thanks man! Gotta love the 747.
On to the next one!
Welcome to part 2 of the Cathay Pacific Cargo RTW-Tour on Flight CPA 3272. Today we are heading from Chicago O'Hare Airport, where we landed after the last flight from Anchorage, to Amsterdam Schiphol. Again we are flying on B-HUO - the Silver Bullet. Our cargo today: 85 tons
Here's the flight information. ETD was 8:45 pm CST
Our route will take us towards the Canadian border. We will then overfly the capital of Ottawa and the city of Quebec. After we reach Newfoundland, we will head out on the Atlantic Ocean over Gander and enter North Atlantic Track Victor at Waypoint KOBEV. Exit point will be RESNO. A little while later we will overfly Belfast, the Isle of Man and cross the UK in the Manchester region. Our descent into Amsterdam will begin close to Norwich
The flightplan is filed, the last bit of cargo is being loaded as we speak and it is time for our pre-flight items
Take a seat in the jumpseat and buckle up! CPA 3272 Heavy is holding in position on ORDs RWY 10, awaiting its take-off clearance by the tower.
After a little turn to the left we are now looking at the outskirts of Chicago. Soon the view out of the window will turn to pitch black, once we reach Lake Michigan
Still climbing. Performance - brought to you courtesy of those 4 powerful RR RB211 engines
After an uneventful flight over the nightly Atlantic Ocean, we are now watching the sunrise close to the Northern Irish coast
A look on our ND shows us that we are 12.1 nm out of waypoint MASOP with a comfortable 40 knot tailwind
Give some credit to an often forgotten hero - the overhead panel!
The sky has turned to blue
Through the clouds we get a nice view of central England
As we close in on the British coast, DAL51 Heavy is passing under us enroute from AMS to JFK. The captain took this picture out of his left window with a heavy zoom lens
Descending and turning. ATC has cleared us for a vectored visual approach into RWY 09
Seriously, looking at the Ground Chart from AMS it looks more like a Miro painting than an actual airport PLANNED by people
In the busy Dutch morning airspace, we are vectored to fly along the Dutch coastline
But finally we get cleared for visual and receive final vectors
CPA 3272 Heavy has the runway in sight
There's nothing like a handflown visual on a 747!
Some Dutch spotter took this
Baby got back!
As we are about to touch down another flight just took off of RWY 36
If you look really close, you can see the infamous Dutch mountains at the horizon
In this case the term "where there's smoke there's fire" does luckily not apply
Another Cathay 747 buddy from HKG is sitting at the gate, waiting for some passengers
Wohoo, look at her shining. Not a tad tired after that long Transatlantic leg, still looking like a queen
We've reached our parking position on the freight ramp in AMS. Thanks for sending cargo with Cathay Pacific Airlines
I hope you enjoyed todays leg. Time to relax with a few Heineken and some Dutch fries. Next flight will be the Gouda-Run from AMS to DXB.

Okay, you had it coming! It's that time again, our next leg on the CPA 3272 RTW-Tour is waiting. Having just arrived in Amsterdam, we didn't have much time to enjoy the city - duty was calling. Cargo out, Cargo in, add some Fuel and off we go from chilly Good Old Europe to hot and dusty Dubai. I know, I know, the last leg from Chicago would bring me over my maximum allowed duty time and I'm not allowed to fly so soon again. Well, you know how it is...I was just travelling in the Jumpseat, honestly! And every once in a while I got to push some buttons. And it's definitely not my fault when the Captain gets trapped inside the lavatory and I have to land that darn thing, you know...
Okay, let's start with the flight info
The Cargo today is 111 tons of tulips, gouda and some pallets full of Euro-Bills. That stuff is becoming worthless anyway and some superrich Dubai-Sheikh wanted to wallpaper his palace with it, so who cares.
After Take-Off from runway 06, we will follow SID ARNEM2R towards Arnhem on a slight turn to the right. It's not gonna be long until we cross the German border and fly through Westphalia, some 30 miles North of Dusseldorf and the Ruhr-Area. Our route will then take us via Leipzig in Eastern Germany into the Czech Republic, a little North of Prague. We continue through Slovakia, Romania and fly over the Black Sea before we cross Turkey. For about 5 minutes we will fly through Syrian airspace and then on to Iraq, where we will pass Baghdad and reach the Red Sea over Basrah. Before landing in Dubai, the route will lead us pretty much over the middle of the Red Sea, with Iran to our left and Saudi-Arabia to the right. ATC will then clear us for a beautiful ILS Approach into RWY 12L. This will give us the opportunity to get a stunning view of Dubai's Skyline, with the Burj Dubai - currently highest Building in the world.
Cruise Altitude will be FL 350 and our ETD is 01:20 pm CET.
As it is very chilly outside and below freezing point, we decided to request de-icing before we get pushed back
The powerful pushback-truck is ready to go
Ready to go on RWY 06, clear skies today in the Netherlands
At 165 kts the FO called out rotate and the Captain lifted this gracious bird into the skies with a little pull on his yoke. Like I said, I was only riding the Jumpseat and observing, you don't believe me?!
Picture LAX-Style Baby!
Leaving Amsterdam. Don't worry, I'll be back
And shortly after we retracted the gear downtown Amsterdam comes in sight with all its little town canals, bridges and even a big Cruise Ship at the horizon. They are not very popular in Europe at the moment for some reason...
As we follow the SID on a right turn, we pass by the stadium of Ajax Amsterdam. I was kinda disappointed there was no match going on at the time
The beautiful Dutch landscape with all its waterways
After 12 minutes into the flight, we already passed by some 30 miles North of Dusseldorf and the Ruhr Area. Inbetween EDDL and our flightpath lies my hometown
My old man just happened to take pictures of planes passing by with a zoom lens while driving in his car. Such a coincidence he got our flight in the frame
The winter in Eastern Europe is crazy cold this year! Just passing over the Czech military airport of LKPD (Pardubice). And yes, I had to google that. Never heard of this place before.
We made it into Romanian airspace and enjoy the nice looking countryside with its little hills from FL350
As soon as we reach the Black Sea, the sun begins to set
See, I told you I was riding in the back. And no, that was not on my way to manipulate the lock on the lavatories...
Catching the last sunrays of the day
And there we go. You can see the stars come out
There is not much to see from now on. This picture was taken somewhere over Iraq
Some 200 miles out of DXB over the Red Sea, we caught up with UAE106 Heavy. This tiny A332, enroute from Athens to Dubai, didn't stand a chance against our B747 and we let him eat our dust soon enough
Now that's what I'm talkin' bout! Demonstrating my Multi-Tasking skills and taking a photo of the breathtaking Dubai skyline at night, while turning this little bird into the localizer. At the same time the Captain on duty is locked in the lavatory. They are so lucky that I happened to be on that flight!
And voilà ! Gliding down that ILS into RWY 12L
Seconds before our wheels touch the runway, some bored worker on the Northern cargoramp took this
Before crossing RWY 12R, we have to wait for this Qatar Airways B77W that just landed to clear the runway
The plane taxiing ahead of us is a KLM B777 that left Amsterdam shortly after us and arrived with us here
Let's call it a day, shall we? Parking on the cargo ramp in Dubai and leaving the Silver Bullet
Thanks for taking the time to digest my flightreport. We're already halfway through now on the Round-the-World Tour. Stay tuned for the next leg from DXB back to Cathays hood in Hong Kong.

It's FS9 enhanced, tweaked and tuned to the limit. Looking like this it can compete with FSX IMHO and runs much better. Even though FSX has potential in the future, I'm fine with FS9 for now. Now if only somebody would make a decent B777 for FS9, I would have everything I ever need...But sadly PMDG will only develop theirs for FSX.

I do remember that! A decade ago Ireland was crazy expensive. And even more so the UK. I couldn't say I had the feeling that the Irish were commodity obsessed back then, but then again I was just visiting.
This whole decrease in prices sadly skipped Germany. Things are as expensive as always. Especially after living in the US for the last 6 months I am used to such nice exchange rates

There is an old saying of the third time is a charm. My third attempt at this flight was the charm. I wanted to fly SAN-ORD with the freeware Skyspirit B763, but suffered from two crashes to desktop. So I switched to a Posky B738. This was a flight I was on many times when I used to fly ORD-SAN-ORD for work many years ago. A few times on a Mad Dog, once on a B763 and once on a B738. There are a lot of shots here, I decided to include some shots of mostly bizjets that I encountered along the way.
A rainy morning at SAN. I am sure one of those other two AA birds is a duplicate of my flight to ORD.

Quoting THEBATMAN (Reply 108): Me too. I'll be headed there in a few weeks!
I miss going to Old Town and the Gaslamp District. I always flew AA out there. Until AA started to get their B738s, my flights were on the MD-80s and that was a long flight for that aircraft. No IFE, no power ports for laptops back then, and my company laptop back then had a battery life of about 15 minutes and 37 seconds. But once they brought in the B738s, the flights were better. On one return leg, I even got an international configured B763. My company travel agent said that they could not get me a seat in economy for whatever reason, so they put me in business class. No complaints from me! I was actually surprised, the plane was nowhere near being full. But then again, it was only a week after 9/11 so the planes were empty back then. That whole trip was weird. My company offices were near Miramar MCAS, and that week I was there, there was a lot more traffic and activity around there. Kind of eerie hearing it.
May I say, sir, your AI is exactly what I want from my FS. You can be at a small airport in Siberia and have traffic there, and then fly SAN-ORD and have vibrant traffic. I understand you custom install it, and I just want to say your effort is at least appreciated by me. If I wasn't so busy with school right now, I'd attempt the same now that I have a computer that can handle such loads.
Question about your AI- how do you get flightplans for your bizjets? I know Ultimate GA, and World of AI, but do you use anything else? Custom flightplans? A generator?

Where? Public transport is ridiculously expensive (ok, and so it is now in BCN) accomodation, food, drinks... I am still shocked that I could live through a weekend with 60€

AA 738s if you lived in MIA they are as common as old people in Cadillacs... same as with the 727s, you could not go on about your life without a 727 screaming past you every few minutes, I kinda miss those days.

Hi guys
After following these thread for a while I thought its best time I contributed some snaps myself. So here goes!
I've been taking the EMB-170 demo aircraft on a tour of the UK. Starting in LPL yesterday we flew up to GLA where we parked up for the night. This morning we headed back South to STN.
Pushback from GLA
Taxying down to RWY5 @ GLA
Take-off from RWY5
Flying over Hampden Park
DL209 head back stateside!
Downwind in to STN just North of LHR!
Finals in to RWY 5 @ STN
Clearing the fence!
Holding short of RWY 5, whilst an EZY 737 take-offs, to taxy back across to the Harrods Ramp!
Parked up outside the Harrods Hanger
Waiting for some steps to arrive!
Tomorrow we will cross the Irish Channel to BFS. Will post some more pics soon.

Today I finally got to fly the next leg on our Round-the-World tour with Cathay Pacific Cargo (after 2 exams this week it was time to relax a little...). Since they have a gap in their 3272 flight between Dubai and Hong Kong, we had to fly under flightnumber CPA66, which is exactly the same operation and really just another number for that leg. But I don't wanna bore you with technicalities, you're here to see pictures and read about the flight, right?
It all starts on a sunny day in Dubai, as we board our beloved B-HUO that is sitting on the freight ramp and shining in the sun like the North Star on a clear night. The B747-400F is waiting for us to take it home to its base in Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok. Sadly there is no more flying into Kai Tak. The spectacular approach into this very challenging airport, descending over the rooftops in the streets of Hong Kong on Final will never be forgotten. But it's not the 90's anymore, and so we have to fly to the new airport a little outside of Hong Kong on a man-made island.
Our filed route today starts on runway 30R in DXB, from where we will depart via SID RIKET2D. After we cleaned the aircraft up, we will bank to the right on an almost 180° turn to enter our initial airway. First we will overfly the Northern tip of the UAE, before we head out into the Gulf of Oman. Flying aligned with the Iranian coast to our left, we will reach Pakistan a little later and pass just South of Karachi, before we enter Indian airspace. Crossing India from West to East will take us some time and after we will have overflown Kolkata, we say Hello to Bangladesh ATC, and immediately Good Bye again. Leaving the Bay of Bengal behind, our route takes us into Burma, also known as Myanmar. For a little while we can enjoy its beautiful mountains from FL350, before the sun sets and we finally fly into Chinese airspace. We will be passing Kunming and Guangzhou, before landing on runway 07L in Hong Kong. All in all this flight will be a little bumpy from time to time. It also will be quick with tailwinds maxing at 104 kts, and averaging at about 80kts.
But now let's kick it off, for real!
Skies are blue today, winds are calm and our freight is 98 tons. After enjoying the city for a few days, lying on the beach and drinking Cocktails in the Hotel Bar, we have to get back to work now. Since we are in a great mood and it's warm and nice outside, we decide to not torture our First Officer with the walk around, and do it ourselves for a change!
The RR Engines look good to me. I just hope my Co is a nice guy and leaves them off until I return to the Flight Deck...
Rudder and Ailerons - check
Our Co actually was a nice guy and we didn't end as Salami. Back to the Flight Deck, going through preflight items and checklists and in no time we are ready to go home! Cathay six-six heavy is ready for pushback and engine start! And what a view with the skyline in the back.
Taxi clearance is received, clear on the left and all set to taxi to the active, 30R. Wait a second...is that...is that a mosquito or something? Ahhh, no, it's just a Piper Archer with a pilot that obviously has made his peace with the world. You better have no unfinished business pal, once I push that Thrust Lever just a teeny weeny bit forward for taxiing, you'll probably fly backwards for the first and last time in your life!
It's not too often you can see AN-12s today. Here's one approaching 30L as we are about to receive our Line-Up clearance.
Looking good! The obligatory runway shot. That moment where you just received Take-Off clearance and are about to push that Thrust Lever forward and just feel incredible power, listening to those powerful engines roaring up that enable you to lift this massive piece of metal off the ground.
A last quick look on our SID for today, before we go.
We are blowing off some dust, as we pull back the yoke to rotate and bring that baby where it belongs - into the skies!
Bye-Bye hot and dusty Dubai...so nice to have AC in my cockpit.
Behind us the airport, below us the beach and in front of us the Persian Gulf. But we will be changing course soon.
Climbing out and it seems there are some clouds coming in. Just the right time to leave, I don't like lying at the beach with clouds in the sky!
That's one big advantage of flying. Don't like cloudy skies? Just break through them and look at them from above with the sun in your neck.
A last glimpse of some Dubai-ish outskirt.
YAY! Only 3301 nm to go. Thank god we have enough coffee, food and newspapers on board.
That was quick. After a few minutes we've already reach the "other" coast of the UAE, this time it's the Gulf of Oman.
A day in the life of a Thrust Lever.
And this is what Pakistan looks like from above. I have to admit, I've seen more exciting landscapes.
After seeing that desert for some time and overflying India without a lot of exciting sights, we made it into Burma. This is what I'm talkin' bout! Mountains, sunset and all in all just beautiful.
Burma, also called Myanmar, is an often forgotten country. It recently saw big changes and is now underway to become more and more democratic and free. Let's keep our fingers crossed for the people there. Their land is really beautiful and these mountains are great.
Had to think of that song by Midnight Oil while passing this scenery...Mountains of Burma.
Slowly the sun goes down, setting for a nice mood.
All of the sudden we encountered some clouds on FL350. Let's say it got a little bumpy...
Watch the stars come out
Somewhere over the province of Guangxi. Not a single airport around us on the ND, even though we set a radius of 160 nm.
After an uneventful descend into Hong Kong, we are now on Finals for runway 07L. NI HAO!
As always, we are well-prepared and take some time to explain the Approach Plate to our F/O. He was holding it upside down...Jeez!
Overflying the runway threshold. After we did the walkaround back in Dubai, I could convince my F/O to let me handle this landing, so he had some time to take pictures. Probably the better choice, I didn't wanna end somewhere in the water short of runway 07L.
Fighting a little crosswind there.
Spoilers deployed, Reverse active
Turning off of 07L we catch a glimpse of the Terminal. Lots of traffic here and so nice to finally see some more Cathay tails
We have secured the aircraft at the cargo ramp and finished our Shutdown checklist. Time to call it a day and get some Chinese food and a nice cold bottle of Tsingtao.
Look at all those Cathays. That's our turf!
I almost felt like a star walking down that illuminated stair
This guy is very careful. He's shining like a christmas tree in his reflective west. He can be a positive example to us all!
Goodbye B-HUO. See you soon when we cross the Pacific together on our last leg back to Anchorage.
Clearly Cathay territory!
That's it for now. I hope you enjoyed today's flight. See you soon on our last leg, at least with Cathay Pacific Cargo. We're going back to Anchorage! Can't believe we circled the world already...
But this won't be the end. We can't retire just yet and so we are gonna do the westbound RTW on the MD-11F right after...stay tuned.

It's me again. I hate to post twice in a row, but I thought you might want to read about the end of the story.
It's done! We have circled the world aboard our Boeing 747-400F on Cathay Pacific Cargo flight number 3272. 12 days ago we started in Anchorage and after 5 legs, today we returned to the icy freight hub.
During this tour we have touched down in 4 different countries - the United States, Netherlands, United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong.
Here are some other statistics of this tour, for those interested:
Total Blocktime: 35h 17m
Total Flighttime: 33h 28m
Total Fuel Burned (Block): 393,386 kilograms
Total Cargo: 469,776 kilograms
Total Distance: 16,605 nautical miles
Now let's talk about today's flight. It was time to say Good Bye to Hong Kong and fly back to Anchorage. ETD was 16:10 Hong Kong Time and ETA was 07:59 Alaska Standard Time. Most of the flight was at night, but most importantly Take-Off and Landing were at Dawn/Dusk. The first time during this World Tour that we actually departed and arrived during daylight.
Weather in Hong Kong was nice, few clouds and good visibility with 17° Celsius OAT.
After Take-Off from runway 07R we will follow SID BEKO3A. This will offer us some breathtaking views onto downtown Hong Kong and the old airport Chek Lap Kok.
After departure our routing will take us along the Chinese coast on a Northern track. After overflying Shanghai we will head out into the East China Sea and reach the Korean island of Cheja a little while later. Following our North-Eastern heading we then pass Busan in Korea, the Sea of Japan and pass over the Russian island Sakhalin. Then we fly out into the Sea of Okhotsk, pass the Russian Kamchatka peninsula and leave the Asian continent when flying out into the Gulf of Anadyr over the city of Anadyr. From there we will reach the Bering Sea and our initial contact with the American continent will be close to Unalakleet, Alaska. Before beginning our descend into Anchorage, we will overfly the city and airport of McGrath. It is kind of ironic that we will also pass a city named "Farewell" on our final heading. A nice way to end this really interesting and entertaining Around the World tour. Cruise Altitude today will be 33,000 feet, with a Step Climb to 35,000 feet some 2,500 nm into the flight. Fuelburn will be a total of 109,407 kilograms today and in Anchorage we get clearance to land on runway 07L, with a great view onto the Chugach Mountains in the background.
It's time to work again. B-HUO is sitting on the freight ramp in Hong Kong, aligned with all the other company '47s.
Hong Kong is the world's largest freight hub, with almost 4,2 million tons of cargo. That's some 250,000 tons more than number 2 Memphis. Therefore it's not really surprising to see the ramp this busy.
While we are still doing our Preflight items and the IRS is not even aligned, you can enjoy the view onto the mountains not far from us.
The last time that we do the walkaround around our 747. At least for now, the next legs will all be on MD-11F.
Ready to go! We're being pushbacked and say Good Bye to Hong Kong.
The Pushback-truck driver Mr. Lee was kind enough to take a picture out of his truck. I will keep this in my logbook as a memory of this great tour.
Engine Start. Number 4 and 3 are already running, 1 and 2 are spooling up right now.
We didn't have to taxi very far, and after waiting for some other departures at the Holding Point we are cleared to take-off on 07R.
Rotate!
And off we go! A very nice atmosphere with the sun slowly going down.
ATC cleared us for SID BEKO3A. It doesn't get any better than this! We might not be able to land in Kai Tak anymore, but this departure route right over the bay and downtown Hong Kong is a very nice substitute.
Simply breathtaking
On our left is the old airport Kai Tak, covered in some low clouds.
Climbing with Hong Kong behind us
Turning to the left, in line with our SiD
After the beautiful view onto the city, we soon see another side of China - nothing but wilderness and mountains.
Don't ask me how this picture originated. I can just tell you, neither me nor the First Officer climbed out of the Flight Deck hatch to take it...
The sun is slowly setting, as we race along the Chinese coast.
A last view out of the window, soon there will be nothing but dark night.
On our ND we can see that we are just overflying Shanghai and its two airports Pudong and Hongqiao.
There's not a lot you can do during a Nightflight.
But eventually, some hours later the sun comes up again as we are just reaching the coast of Alaska.
Wow, the landscape is just beautiful
Alaska. Known for its unpredictable weather, we encounter thick cloud layers. But apart from that the skies are friendly and the weather on approach will be good.
This is what nature looks like
Our last approach onboard B-HUO! On Finals for 07L in Anchorage
This is every spotter's paradise. So many 747s and MD-11s here
Looking good! Love the view with the mountains in the background.
It definitely looks cold here
The last seconds in the air
Short Final
And this was shot miliseconds before the wheels touched the runway
Taxiing back to the ramp
Now that's what I call an action shot! Another Cathay just landed, this FedEX MD-11F is about to take-off from runway 14 and an Atlas Air 747 just took off.
Is this a sign? Long before we encountered this MD-11 from FedEX I already planned my next tour. Initial leg will be with a FedEX MD-11 from Anchorage to Osaka.
The last few yards of CPA3272, before the engines are shut down.
I was expecting a water cannon salute. All I got was a man in a yellow jacket, guiding me into the final parking position...
I'm gonna miss that bird.
Are we back in Hong Kong? No, this is actually the ramp in Anchorage. And by coincidence there happen to be 2 other bare metal-paint company 747.
This is it! The final curtain. Next time I'm gonna board a plane it will be less steps. No upper deck on the MD-11.
Thank you for flying around the world with me! I hope you enjoyed this multi-leg tour and had as much fun reading about it, as I had flying it.
If you want to read more, just stay tuned! My combined FedEX/Lufthansa Cargo Around-the-World tour will start soon. This time we head westbound, starting in Anchorage and going back via Osaka, Krasnoyarsk, Frankfurt and Toronto.
So see you soon, back in the sky!
Once again... stunning shots, the shots in DXB with the Downtown in the distance is really cool, and so is the shots in HKG, my favourite city in the world (after SIN)
When we visited HKG we were in the harbourfront waiting for the ¨Symphony of Lights¨ show when a CX A330 flew overhead after taking off from HKG, I told my girlfriend, those PAX must be having a kick-ass view right now.
Looking forward for the Tri-holers.
Managed a flight today, short regional hop SIN-BKK and back.
Holding short of 02C in a rainy SIN as a Kitty is purring on finals.
Comfortably cruising at FL340
Approaching Thailand.
Gliding like a boss for a smooth touchdown on 19L
Parked next to a ¨Roossien Friendd¨
And back home, plane is heading for Shantou next, me... home to relax.
Love No.4! Great pictures.
What Airbus are you using? I can't find one that lives up to my expectations regarding realism. Been to a Lufthansa A320 Full Flight Simulator in Frankfurt once, that probably spoiled me
If only Airsimmer would release their Advanced Edition one day, I would be happy...
Yea, during that flight to Hong Kong I really thought that I should go there one day. I'm usually travelling more to the US, but maybe one day I will do an Asia-Tour.
I use my trusty Project Airbus A320s, I know it´s not the real deal or as complex as the Airsimmer or other add-ons but it does the job for me, I use a panel made by Ken Mitchell which I had slowly given my own twist, now is a mix of CLS A330 and other gauges, so I have lots of buttons to press.
Quoting Speedbird217 (Reply 116): Yea, during that flight to Hong Kong I really thought that I should go there one day. I'm usually travelling more to the US, but maybe one day I will do an Asia-Tour.
You definitely should, it´s well worht it, and once you get the Asia bug... you will want to travel there more and more.

Quoting Speedbird217 (Reply 119): Some great shots you have there! Thanks for sharing. Do you use any special light effects? The Landing Lights look amazing. Also, is this FS9 or FSX?
Looks like it might be the Shockwave Lights from A2A.
This is my first flight in a while. I am flying east, out of the US and heading towards Russia. Although the legs on the BBJ allow for a much longer flight, tonight I flew IAD-KEF. I was flying into the darkness, so with my afternoon departure, it got dark pretty quick.
At the GA ramp at IAD
Racing the Citation II to the runway, guess who won.
I did, here I am climbing through the clouds
Sun is starting to set
Passing Greenland
Making my way into KEF, got some low lying clouds tonight
Runway barely visible through the low level clouds/fog
As I was heading to parking, I was going stealth, no taxi lights...
Because I was getting some funky light cones like this Icelandair B752 has.
The floodlights at KEF are lighting up the tarmac tonight!
Parked in the cargo area, but the Icelandair cargohaulers were not there. I'll be here a few days before my next flight and might have to taxi to another spot for those B752 freighters.

Actually it's the Deltasim 3D light effect adapted for use with landing lights, etc. There's a tutorial on Simviation on how to install them (though it's not too hard to do without it). I use this effect with CRJs and most newer aircraft that have LED lights, and the effects from Enigma SImulations (included with their FS9 737 release) for the same purpose with all other aircraft.

First post in a while, flew LED-VKO with an FV AN-148. Scenery is freeware that I found on avsim.su. A lot of images here, took a lot on this short flight and deleted a lot.
New hangars under construction at LED
LED is divided into two areas, this area here had more international carriers at the gates...
...and an IL-76 as well. Need to check my cargo parking. Also Yakutia has a nice B752w in their fleet.
After a long wait for departing traffic, I was able to cross the runway to continue my taxi to the other end of this runway
A small GA ramp at LED
And here is the other gate area that has more of the domestic carriers in Russia
If you look in the back, there is the hangar from my first image. And I have company behind me
And we are on our way...slowly.
Still making my slow climb to FL330
Just received my first descend instructions from ATC
Just received vectors to VKO Rwy6, visual. Hoping for good weather.
Overcast and snow. Not what I was hoping for!
View from the cockpit
Some of the VKO regulars in the background
Main terminal
Russian traffic is getting more western, but there are still some carriers with Russian metal.
And some very colorful liveries too
A mixture of traffic, east, west, regionals, and general aviation.
Roman Abramovich's small private jet.
UTair has a very diverse fleet of aging Eastern metal and Western metal, here are two of their aging Eastern fleet.
Sorry for the number of pics, I had troubles narrowing it down. And I also realized that I didn't edit two of them. Whoops.

You're welcome. I love Russian aviation. After I bought my new PC, I only added in carriers that flew into the US, as I only going to fly in the US. However the calling of Russian aviation grew louder and I started to install Russian AI and scenery. My sister-in-law is from KHV and I hope someday to visit there and see some real Russian metal.
That was a freeware model from Samdim, who has made some great freeware planes. This model is the v1 model and last year he/they released a v2 model. I have yet to install it though, maybe this weekend as I continue my Russian trek.

Take a look at http://www.avsimrus.com/. They have some freeware diamonds for Russia that you won't find on the usual websites. If you want a truly great scenery to start with, search for "37178-UNNT-2011.zip" there. This must be one of the best freeware airports up to date, it's the Tolmachevo airport in Novosibirsk. They have a whole lot of other great sceneries and other stuff as well.

For a nice list of Russian scenery, head on over to the AIG forums, and in the Scenery Discussion forum is a thread on Russian scenery. The thread is http://www.alpha-india.net/forums/index.php?topic=7160.0 and is called "All these beautifull russian sceneries.." I am also in the forums there under the same username that I have here and am kind of a semi active member of AIG, but not really anymore due to real life. But I am working on two AI flightplans right now that may or may not be released anytime soon.
For the Samdim models, you can find them at www.avsim.com or www.avsim.su, just search for Samdim. Some of their newer models, I think a YK-40 is very advanced and I could not fly it, mainly because I can not read/write Russian and could not figure out how to operate the plane. But I like their AN148 and they even have a nice IL96 as well. Both are easy for the casual simmer, the type that just wants to fly and not simulate real life operations.

There is a panel modification on www.avsim.com that converts the panel into imperial units rather than metric. It is in one of my screenshots above.
I've been wanting to fly a Yak42, but the Samdim model is too complex for me. So I took the CIS Traffic Team AI model, replaced the FDE with another FDE from a flyable aircraft, added in a three holer panel and a Yak42 engine soundset. Did a short test flight today and so far it is OK. Might need to replace the panel, but it is close for flight soon.

Well we'll see how that goes. The FDE that I used was from the old Vistaliners B727 model, and it was OK, had some climb issues and when turning on the ground, it was like I was taking turns at high speed with my wheels coming up off of the ground. I went to another old B727 model, this one from Mike Stone and used it's FDE. I also installed a new panel, but by the time I did all of that, it was well past my normal bed time. My next test flight will be later this week.

Hey everyone! Remember me? Needless to say, it's been a while. Screenies look great everyone. Keep 'em coming as always. Well I found some time to pick up a "new" bird (new to me anyway), the FeelThere ERJ v2. Found it on sale for $19, can't beat that. Anyway, decided to take the 145 from AMS to LUX in KLM livery on a test run...
Rotating out of 1R at AMS
The VC
On climb out to FL210 (short trip)
At cruise, doing something like .67M
The 2D cockpit
Coming down (nothing but snow and clouds!)
On short final to runway 24 - LUX
Touching down
Painfully obvious that I have no LUX scenery. So, here we are next to an IB CRJ buddy parked on the ramp.
I gotta admit, I like this little RJ. Still like Boeings better, but that's not gonna change anytime soon.

Quoting speedbird217 (Reply 145): Nice pics Batman! Always nice to see that you still find some time for Simming inbetween fighting all that crime and cleaning the villains off the streets.
Yeah, been pretty busy lately. The flight sim flying I have been doing has been mostly over at EAV (Eastern Airlines Virtual). Gotta admit, I really am enjoying that.
Seeing as I'm what you call a "hard-core" comic book Batman fan, there were some good things about that movie and some bad. Wasn't that Snickers commercial a Super Bowl commercial?

Quoting aerdingus (Reply 154): Em possibly...we don't really have Super Bowl here lol
Well, you probably just choose not to watch it. Kind of like why everyone here thinks I'm crazy for watching the EPL and UEFA Champions League and being a Manchester United fan. My nephew is a Chelsea fan, and my brother in-law an Arsenal fan. Pretty unheard of over here in the USA. How difficult is it to catch NFL games on your side of the pond?

Yeah, I barely even watch Irish sports lol. I like UEFA when Ireland gets in hehe. NFL games..I think ye have to have satellite to see them, but nearly everyone has that anyway. I think some people watch it but not many.

Quoting MIAspotter (Reply 115): And back home, plane is heading for Shantou next, me... home to relax.
Wow, I'm impressed that someone else knows a place like Shantou exists other than me! Being my hometown, it holds a great meaning for me. Anyway, where did you get the new scheme for the A320? Hope it's for the Wilco Airbus series!

Been a while since I have posted. Haven't fired up FS9 in over two weeks due to real life and the lack of desire to fly. But today I finally finished my Yak42 project. There is a great freeware Yak42 out there, but it is too realistic and hard for me. So I decided to make the AI model from the CIS Traffic Team flyable. I replaced the .air file and modified the aircraft.cfg file, added in a generic 3 engine panel and a Yak42 engine soundset...and I got myself a flyable Yak42. I took it on a short flight tonight from VKO to LED.
Heading out to the active, passing a nice mixture of eastern and western aircraft
To the air
Still climbing to FL300. As I was cropping this picture, I noticed a blooper. I accidently turned off the lights, which in turn placed the engine covers.
Final for LED, lights on and engine covers off
Parked at a spot, not sure if it was the right one, but I liked this spot for this picture.
My Yak42 is closed up for the night, while in the background a Swiss A319 exits the runway after arriving.

Cool! well, I always check the Changi departure times in order to ¨guesstimate¨ where a plane heads off afterwards, so the early BKK flight goes to either SHA or MNL (I think) I wish there was scenery available for Shantou so I could do that flight as well.
Quoting initious (Reply 166): Anyway, where did you get the new scheme for the A320?
Hmm, I used a repaint made by Jon Tavendale at PAirbus and I modified the titles.

Nope, Project Airbus

Did a longish flight for once last night for once. The extent of my flights have been the likes of LHR-FRA or DUB-CDG, so instead of headed stateside for MDW-LAX with WN.
Preparing for push
One of our guests took this during taxi to 13C.
Then a spotter caught us on our climbout.
Looking over the left shoulder.
Sun starting to go down as we cruise at FL400
First officer was bored so took this as we approached Nevada.
Just overhead mountainous terrain around the SoCal area.
On the ground once more. Didn't take any other screenies of the approach due to us being something like 6th in line on the approach with another 4-5 behind. Quite busy which is nice.

There's 1 for the new Shantou airport, Jieyang Chaoshan Airport (the old Shantou Waisha Airport is now military only) on avsim.com. It's for FS9 but it worked fine on FSX. Will be flying to the new airport next month, ultra excited. P.S. Shantou is SWA, not SHA :P
Quoting aerdingus (Reply 163): Yeah it's a really cool one. Wonder if it's still in that paint..last pic in database is from 2010 (this one's from 2007)
It was stripped of the O2 branding back then, and moved to Hungarian registry with the blue background (no bubbles). I dont know if it has been repainted since.

Well, I have been downgraded... from Airbus driver... to Bus driver... only difference is, the bus has less screens
For those interested... it is the OMSI Bus Simulator, basically you simulate a bus route in an area in Berlin back in 1989, but like FS, you can develop routes and create add-ons which this MAN bus is.
I am currently out of FS for a bit, I am in Madrid looking for work and even though FS is installed on my laptop, I need a proper keyboard (and my bigger screen) to run it.

Oh, so I was running a package delivery charter flight then. Thanks for the translation. My official Russian translator, my sister-in-law, is actually back home in Russia this week visiting her mother.
