So the "secret" product from PMDG is out it is a DC-6 and it seems that PMDG is going to make maybe a few more classics. Here is their announcement

Part of me is disappointed, it looked promising until he said it wasn't going to be as detailed as the NGX, but that's just me.

Not very happy about that one.

I would have preferred a NGX type realism biz jet or an older jet like a 727 or Fokker-28. But I think this should be pretty good. They said it won't be NGX type but it will still be PMDG it will be very realistic I am sure.

I would not particularly long for failures on such a complex propliner, which is really what being "as detailed as NGX" seems to be. The JS41 is said to be comparable, and while it is not a "study level sim" as they seem to be calling their mainline add-ons now, it is still really good, and very realistic in normal operation.

A little surprised, I must say. I have every PMDG product and think they're just getting better and better, but I will have to "pass" on this one...

In their forum they made a comment about that saying there is just too small of a market. I am with you with that though a nice medium to long haul biz jet would be great from PMDG.

CJ4 or a G650 would be nice.

And yet there's a market for a DC-6? I suspect there's more demand than they think.

CJ4 is pretty limited in performance (and from an economics standpoint it's not really that great of an airplane unless you're filling it up on a regular basis, but that's not really important in FS). I'd like to see something along the lines of a Falcon 900EX (pre-Easy) or a Challenger 604 - something that has the ability to go for fairly long distances, but without the really complicated avionics that you'd get in a G650 or a newer Falcon. Less development time and learning curve for the average user, yet you'd still have a nice, capable, bizjet that you could use on a great variety of routes.

Too small of a market? Maybe the people that frequent the PMDG forums are hard-core commercial airliner type of guys (or gals) but I'm here to tell ya - if they came out with a PMDG G650, they would sell it LIKE CRAZY.

CAN ANYONE OUT THERE AT PMDG HEAR ME?

Apparently, they have decided for DC-6 because they wanted to do something for themselves in developers free time, not because of commercial reasons.

I think they also said that DC-6 would be way easier to make than a bizjet, which would be about the same amount of work as any current airliner (which make more sales, thus more sense commercially), but I agree that a nice large-cabin bizjet would be good thing to have. I would like it to be a C680, but who am I to decide.

also as far as Gulfstream goes, they are apparently for some reason very much against having their airplanes modelled in sim and threaten lawsuits to add-on makers... go figure.

Which is why I didn't include the G-IVSP in my list, because that would really be great.

That's right, I forgot about that. So screw Gulfstream. There are plenty of biz jet fish in the ocean...

Absolutely. So how about a nice Falcon 7X, or a Global Express XRS or 7000 or even a C680 like you said. Come on PMDG, you'll make your money back and then some (a lot of $$$).

I concur, I would buy it.

I would also love to see PMDG do a Q400, that would sell well IMHO

they do do some -8, but I think they were talking 2s/3s/Q3s or something. Fanda, the author of Majestic -8Q300 for FS9 is doing a Q400 for FSX and I cant wait.
The Q300 is a class of its own in regards to systems and flight dynamics, but graphically, it was... sub-par even couple years back. Samdim is on the boat for Q400 now though, and previews do look quite good.

How about them finishing up the 777 Series first?

They say the point is to utilize the people that have no other work to do at the moment (eg. they have done their part at the NGX, but it is too soon for them to work at 777)

Isn't there a decent Mustang sim out there for those who are after bizjet in FS? I tried it once and rather liked it!

Flight-1 makes it. It is a bit dated now but I have heard good reviews. But I think many people want a biz jet that can go across the Atlantic or be able to fly DXB-NCE. That is what FS is missing greatly.
