Hi guys,

I am a little obsessed by Greenland. That country somehow is impressive and has something special in my opinion.

I have never been there in real life, just overflew Greenland many many times.

Now, I fly to BGSF/ SFJ many times in FS, but the airport and the scenery is not really realistic up there. Simple mountains, not many details at the airport.

Does anybody know of any add- on for FS or FSX of Greenland or at least of SFJ airport?

Many thanks for your help.

Came across this...don't know if it's exactly what you're looking for, but if you click "zipdive", there are a few pics to look at. Hope this helps.

I'm looking for exactly the same thing. I even wanted to create a BGSF scenery myself, since I thought it was a nice little airport to start scenery design with. But then I got caught up in my own high expectations to this scenery and didn't find enough time to follow this project. That's really a blank spot on the FS map...please somebody design a nice Kangerlussuaq scenery!

Something does not add up here

Anyways, did you have a look at the fsx scenery list? More often than not, I find these sceneries quite dull and incomplete, but you might catch luck

Safe flying!

I was thinking the same thing!

There are most of the main airports on there and even a mesh file (containining rivers, etc) but I haven't had the chance to try them out yet, I will hopefully be able to do it tomorrow and let you know if you haven't already.

It's also worth having a look through this website:

http://www.flightsim.gl/

Again, haven't had time to try anything but looks promising.

Creating scenery yourself? I wouldn't even know where to start - even if I had the time

Found that one, it is pretty basic but at least adds some houses etc. Thanks.

Part of the problem with Greenland, as far as developing realistic terrain, is that there is next to no data to work with. Shuttle Radar Topography Mission is/was an extremely easy way to develop mesh scenery, but it never went far enough north to cover all of Greenland, so there's only really data available for Cape Farewell on the southern tip.

As far as realistic coastlines, rivers, etc goes, it's a bit of the same issue. At least roads are pretty easy, since only two cities are connected by road - the rest are entirely within the cities!

Yeah, Greenland is not very popular, but it is somewhat magic to me and it would be great to have a more realistic scenery there.
I tried the Nuuk Scnerey and a little of the SFJ and it looks ok. At least it adds some houses and boats. But the terrain looks simple and boring...

Ah well, I guess I have to fly into SFJ in 'big' simulator then

I am very impressed indeed if the LH 747 simulators have scenery for SFJ. Then again, our lot did not even have scenery for CPH on the B757 sim - it was a single runway airport nowhere near any kind of water - so it is hardly as if I am spoiled

I have only visited Greenland once, but it is a magical place that I am very keen on going back to see more of. Pretty difficult finding like-minded friends to travel to though - all my mates are finding the idea of going to Greenland slightly bonkers.

If you want to try out CPH scenery in a real simulator, just go to either the Stockholm or CPH division of OAA.. plenty of simulators there   Did many approaches in my A320 sim in both CPH, ARN & OSL.

Wilco, you might be interested in this new release: http://secure.simmarket.com/inet.gl-kangerlussuaq-x.phtml

Idk about the quality, the screens don't look top-notch, but it's most certainly better than default. Sadly it's FSX-only, so not for me.
