Brakes/Differential Brakes Stuck On FSX?

So, on my FSX system, I had a pair of rudder pedals which were (after a period of time) stuck on Differential Brakes. I recently replaced them with a new pair I bought off of CraigsList (I know, I know), however, they are stuck on brakes itself.
Any ideas? Maybe something in the software and not in the hardware, which could be easily remedied?

Also: with it I got a throttle quadrant and the prop control and mixture control do not get recognized at all. Also possible software? Or hardware issue?

That we have. It strangely seems as if the biggest issue is that it starts out OK, yet then sticks on diff. brakes/brakes once I set and/or tap them. (Or even make a slightest movement with the rudder pedals, even ignoring the toe brakes (it would appear.)

As it happened with a previous pair (it stuck on diff. brakes, but did not start out that way), maybe something in the software? I am afraid of having to reload it, but maybe that will help in itself?

Do you have the CH-USB Rudder Pedals by any chance? I had a problem where the left one would get stuck on and I was able to "fix" it by just cycling the pedals back and forth and it eventually goes away.

Cycling the pedals did not work, however, I have found a solution. I keep full pressure at the heel of the rudder pedals and use them solely for directional control, while for braking action utilizing the brake toggle switch on the back of my yoke. So far the new improvisation has worked swimmingly!

Are you using the CH Products pedals? Your problem sounds exactly like one I had with those back in the day, and the eventual solution was (IIRC) to reload the drivers and recalibrate the pedals.

Obviously would be nice to have the full function, though at least my improvisation has proven to work in a pinch.

Do you have paid FSUIPC? I would try calibrating brakes from within that, setting it so that the brakes only start working at about 1/3-1/2 of the pedal movement range. Maybe there is some interference or noise that is not readily seen from within FS calibration and it makes FS go bad.

No experience with those, so I couldn't say. But taking the same steps couldn't hurt.

If you need to keep full pressure on the heels to get the brakes to turn off, that's an indication that the regular neutral position (without your feet on the pedals) is being interpreted by the electronics in the pedals as a brake application, and that really sounds like a calibration issue. One other thing you might do (if the software drivers allow) is create a small null zone, which basically means that you'll have to move the pedals farther to see any effect. The purpose of that is generally to prevent inadvertent taps of the controls to have any input, but in this case it might stop the brake signal from being sent unless you were actually pushing down on the pedals.
