Radio Shack sells an assortment of scanners from about $80 to $250 depending on what you want to listen to and how many features you want.
I have a Pro-83 which allows me to listen to Air, Police, Fire, Marine, Military (some), Ham (some), Weather, and a few TV stations. I do not have an 800 MHz band. I have 200-channel program capability.
