A VA is a an airline game where you are a pilot for a certain airline over the internet. They assign you flights and you fly the routes using their planes that you download. You have to file pilot reports after the flights so your hours can be kept track of. So it is pretty much like being in a real airline
Right now im a senior first officer on the Airbus A330-300 with Pacific West Airways based out of London Heathrow. I recomend that you check them out if you are going to join a VA

You get your assignments online and then fly the routes on your flight simulator.
Yes it is for fun. I have had lots of fun advancing through the airline. I started off flying the Jetstream 31 and after much advancement I now fly the A330-300.

Hello,
I agree, Pacific West Airways is an excellent VA. I am currently a Senior Captain on the Boeing 777-200 and 300 series. I am based out of the LAX hub and regularly fly online at VATSIM. There are so many different flights you can do.
