Is It Worth Using Rudder In FS With Joystick Only?

Does anyone use the rudder by "twisting" the joystick in FS2002 (or any other version)? I'm thinking of taking "auto rudder" off to see if I can have more realism, but using the joystick is a little strange. What does everyone else think? Thanks for the replies.

I use it Fs98 and its more fun using the rudder manualy then co-ordinating it with the ailerons. BTW I use the MS Sidewinder.

So you use the twisting action on the sidewinder? That's the same joystick I have. Thanks for the reply.

I use it on FS2002 with my MS Sidewinder Precision Pro works great. Not as realistic as the petals but it still seems fine.

I posted a reply in another thread about rudder pedals, but maybe someone on this thread knows the answer too...

Can't you hook up a USB rudder pedal, then map the axis of the new rudder pedals in FS? Or do the sidewinder drivers prevent the using of other control devices? I was thinking of buying a set of pedals, but I don't want to buy any if they won't work.
