Lats night I was flying the 737-400 and climbed out and then put the plane on autopilot. However, autopilot did NOT help at all because is seemed like it wasn't even on. I checked the manual and everything was in place but the plane wouldn't respond. Please HELP!

You do need a flightplan loaded of course. If not, the aircraft will follow the heading bug which defaults to due north.
Also remember to set the NAV/GPS switch to GPS when using a flightplan, or you have to manually set the VORs and radials to fly to.
