Flight Yokes, What Is Usb?

Hello every one. I have a quick question regarding flight Yokes for FS2002. What is the difference between a yoke with a regular connection and one with USB? What is a USB connection and how does it work?

A USB is faster than a gameport and it responds quicker to your movements of your game controller.

a USB port is a smaller port and has fewer connections and is much faster. the other connection is the serial connection which has heaps of pins which can be accidently bent and its just so old.
some computers might not have the ability for USB connection. so if u look on the back of ur computer, try and see if u can find a port that is small and rectangular shaped.

I just got a yoke LE and am very satisfied with the model. It acts at the same rate as my joystick which was a very high tech joystick.

The major advantages of USB (quite apart from speed which isn't critical in gameports) is the fact that you can adress a lot more devices.
A gameport is limited to 4 axes, with USB you could in theory have almost unlimited axes (there is a practical limit in the amount of devices the bus can power).

How can I tell for sure that my computer is capable of USB? If it isn't, is there some sort of adapter that I can buy? I currently have a "Saitek Cyborg 3D digital" joystick. Also, where is the cheapest on-line place to buy flight Yokes? If thinking of the ones from CH Products.

If you run Windows98 or later, your software is capable.
The connector on the machine is a small rectangular opening, about half an inch long and 2-3mm wide (mounted either horizontally or vertically).
If your machine is newer than a year or 3, it probably has 2 or 4 of them. If it does not, you can buy a card that you put into the PC which has 2 or 4 ports on it.

I have a CH products flight yoke and it was about $100 canadian which is really cheap. MY joystick was 150

I took the time to looke behind the machine today, and there is something that says USB with a rectangular oppening, I think thats it! Ill probably be ordering a yoke within the coming days... Is there an online store that has them for sale that is not too expensive?

Rectangular connection about 12mm x 3mm

Other end is often a square connector with corners cut off to connect to say a Digital Camera or webcam.

Win 98 or above generally
