Is anyone going on a C172 flight during the VATCAR inaugural fly-in? Just wondering because I'm trying to determine my departure airport and arrival airport. I want a flight that will have the ATC along. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm looking for a flight that will last about an hour or so, maybe less than that. Thanks.

I wouldnt mind it at all. If you tell me what airport you want to arrive at, I'll look at my charts for the area and give you a good departure spot VFR.

Depending on how long you want to fly...
Punta Cana-San Juan is nice for a short hop. Puerto Rico is very nice scenery.
Flying along the Bahamas Cays is also very nice.

I know that an airport in Puerto Rico and Netherlands, Antilles (Caracao) will have full ATC coverage (i.e. TWR, DEP, etc.) I think I'd like to leave from Netherlands Antilles. I'm looking for about an hours' flight and under the ATC coverage that will be provided that day from the various VATCAR centers.

Say how about Curacao to TNCA or TNCB? According to VATCAR there are some IFR routes to those destinations that are 65 and 46 NM respectively.
