Does anyone get their charts from FBO's and such? If so, what do they mean when they say the have to "take a portion of it off, so they can send it to the FAA"? Does this affect the chart, other than make it official that it cannot be used for real world navigation? I want to use them for FS purposes.

They may have to send a portion of the chart to Jeppesn or NOAA to get credit for unsold charts. I have a friend who is a pilot (private with instrument rating) who gives me his expired charts. They are great to use for flight sim.

I'm worried though that they may appear in a damaged way. This portion they take off, is it cut neatly? I guess I'll found out soon anyhow, but KALB you're right, that' s what they told me. They send it back to the FAA for credit.
