Hi,

What can you do with such freq. scanner. ?
What is the range of those scanners? Can u use it for plane who comes over on a high altitude?

I want to buy one but not spent big bucks on it.

what can you do: guess  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
range: depends on the device and the transmitter range. Typically 30-50km
en-route traffic: depends on the scanner. Many do not have the required frequency bands.
If you want en-route traffic, you're gonna have to spend big bucks as only the more powerfull featurerich models can reach them and those are of course the more expensive ones...

En-route frequencies are slightly higher than Terminal frequencies.eg
118.7=LHR Tower ,127.42=London en-route
