PSS A320 Or Flight 1 737-400

Which one should i get, the Phoenix Simulation A320 or Flight 1 Software B737-400. They both cost the same($37). I need a fast answer, i'm getting either one of them tomorrow. I'm using FS2002 so they need to work trouble free with fs2002. (I remember hearing about some probs with PSS A320 and fs02.) Thanx.

I have both, and I like them both a lot.
The Airbus is certainly less heavy on your machine (especially the visual model) and looks more accurate (it's over a year newer in design, so that's no wonder. New tools etc).
The 737 is modelled on an older aircraft. Far more things for the user to do directly. More switches to flip, more dials to turn, just like in the real thing (the Airbus is, just like the real thing, far more automated. For example starting the engines in the A320 involves flipping 2 switches (if you have the APU and fuelpumps running), in the 737 it involves a long checklist).

In the end, it's personal preference which you prefer. The more hands-on approach of the 737 or the more systems-management approach of the A320 (most work is done by programming the computers, and they then fly the plane).

Flight dynamics on both are excellent, the 737 seeming a bit more responsive.

Were I to be faced with the decision now, I'd probably go for the A320 simply because it's a newer product and not one ported from FS2000.
I might then still get the 737 at a later date of course.

So my recommendation would be just that, get the A320 now and save up for the 737.

I'm also for the A320, it's an excellent aircraft, completely different to the Boeing (Fly-by-wire). The video is awesome! I like programming the computers, it's not that easy it looks actually! So my vote goes to A320 Big grin

If you have a good computer, PSS...Definelty!! I unfortunetly took mine back because my computer is crappy. PSS is much more realistic. DF734 is also a very realistic game.

Gregory, you're saying the PSS Airbus performs worse on your machine than the DF 737?
Never heard that before, everyone else experiences the opposite (especially the MDL, the panels are about equal).

On my (by now) low-end P4-1.6 with GF2Ti it even outperforms some of the default aircraft.

I would really suggest you the Flight One 737-400 DreamFleet

Here you got two pics i took for you.

Pay attention the the transparent windows and the passengers. You can fill the airplane as you want.
The only thing is i don't see the reverse deflectors on the engine when reversing.

Also take a look at this panel. VERY reallistic. The upper panel is just IMPRESSIVE.
You have also wings views, crew announcements sounds, callouts ,everything.

Noone said the DF 737 is no good JGore, I think everyone agrees it's an excellent product.
But it is older and not fully optimised for FS2002. Those transparent windows in the cabin were IMO a mistake as they have a severe performance impact (and don't look all that good, they're just holes with no glass in them (adding that probably made performance unacceptable even to the Dreamfleet guys who don't worry about it all that much, which is their decision as you can't have ultra accurate looks and excellent performance. It's always a compromise)).

The animation for the thrust reversers doesn't work in FS2002. That's a known consequence of using an FS2000 model in FS2002, some animations won't appear.

I've had the A320 a couple months now (although I haven't had a lot of time to play FS recently and dive into all the technical details) and bought the 737 last night, so here are my first impressions:

The 737 seems to have a "warmer", friendlier feel to it, the manuals seem easier and more interesting to read, and the FMC even has its own help section you can click on. And you can even load up the FMC as a stand-alone application while you're not in FS, to practice on it, make up new flight plans, etc. The A320 seems "colder", less welcoming, the manuals seem more "dry" and technical to read.

The A320 actually includes the A319, A320, and A321 models. However, you have to pay extra to get more liveries off their website, and you even have to pay more than once for the same airline if you want it in 2 or 3 of the models instead of just one. With the 737 you can download any number of liveries for free, plus they provide a template to help you make your own, which many people have enjoyed doing.

The A320 has a state-of-the-art 3-D virtual cockpit you can pan and move around, while the 737 (being designed for FS2000 originally) uses photographs of the cockpit at set angles. However, with the 737 you also get cabin and wing views. (again, from photographs)

Finally, something I think is really cool, the 737 lets you customize the seating layout, moving groups of 2 first-class seats or 3 coach seats around wherever you want, you can even turn them backwards if you want club seating. You could have no seats at all, or all first class, anything in between, however you want. After you decide where the seats go, you can click on seats to put people there, or let the computer fill them randomly, and then the weight of the plane is set based on all this. Too bad you can't put in beds, couches, desks, etc. like on John Travolta's private 707. Maybe Dreamfleet should make a BBJ next. :-]

So basically, I like both of them a lot, they each have their own little advantages and disadvantages. If you can only afford one, then I'd say get the A320 if you like to spend most of your time in the cockpit doing everything seriously and by the book, or the 737 if you like watching your plane from the outside and/or think it would be fun to repaint it yourself.
