Those of you that think this is a stupid hobby can ignore this message, I on the other hand think going spotting is one of the best ways to show your love of aviation, not to mention dedication.
If you are a fellow spotter have you :
1) Been spotting in the rain ?
2) Been spotting at night to see something special ?
3) Travelled overseas for spotting ?
4) Taken a flight for the aircraft, no other reason ?
Well I've done all of the above and more. How about you ?. Are you a true aircraft nutter !!

1) Yes, even in a thunder storm
2) Not yet..
3) No
4) Yes, when I went to AMS, I flew ARN-CPH-AMS, instead of ARN-AMS (just to see CPH and fly SAS A321 )

1) Yes, of course!
2) Yes I do make an effort to go to the airport to take a look at specials provided I don't have more important things at hand!
3) I met you in HK last year, didn't I? Disappointed the Virgin B744 wasn't in the new colours.. and I think we saw a KE B747F left Macau for HK when we were under the approach path of 7L?
4) Well what I most look forward to when going on a vacation is the flight!

2.) Yup, my dad used to take me down to catch the late Spain arrivals
3.) Myself and Jason Nicholls went off to Malaga just for abit of spotting for 2 days
4.) Yup, the flight down to Malaga .... the part i enjoyed the most was the flight

1) Yes….but mostly during Kai Tak days. Bad weather means more "action", you know!!
2) Yes….but again, mostly during the old days, when it was so easy to get to Kai Tak, even on weekdays after I left the office.
3) At least once every year. Even if it was a business trip, I'd always end up doing some spotting-related activities.
4) Once so far. Flew a Swissair MD11 going HKG-MNL-HKG early this year just for the heck of it. OK, ok, the end-to-end jumpseat ride is the major attraction, I'd admit.

1: Not often as it is difficult keeping the rain off the camera lens
2: Not yet
3: Of course - such a shame Kai-Tak is closed now
4: I remember back in 1976 taking the shuttle from Heathrow to Edinburgh & back just to fly a Trident. I managed a 1C up & a 3B back. The 3B was definitely a spritely aircraft with its four engines at full throttle.

Ive done #4, when I flew a USAirways A330-300 PHL-PIT in Envoy Class and an Airtran 717-200 on the return 2 hours later for the insanely cheap fare of $84 total...amazing experience, one that I sorely would like to repeat, especially with the A330...that $84 I spent was probably the best $84 Ive ever spent...
Ive done #3 incidentally when traveling overseas, like at SYD when I had to connect between terminals the bus ride went straight across the ramp past a ton of widebodies, most of which were new to me...When I go to England I hope to get to either EMA or MAN to spot since they are the two closest airports to where I'll be...

Yes too all 4.
I always take a one day trip to HKG just to visit the airport and spotting. I usually spend my winter vacation in taiwan. So I usually stop at HKG for one day 1st. Typically I would take EVA Air from SFO to TPE, arrive 5:00 in the morning, connect the 1st TPE-HKG flight at 8:00AM. Spent entire day at HKG, and take the last EVA flight of the day back to TPE.

1. Yes, and that's saying something (I'm from California, and we are afraid of the rain).
2. Often, but that's just because I stay there longer than planned.
3. Not specifically for spotting, but that's a selling point. (Especially for changing planes).
4. No, but if I have a choice of fliying on a new plane, airline, or to airport I take it.

1) Yes, it's Scandinavia, it's always ranining
2) Only if I have to pick someone up, who's coming home from a charter (the last of those usually land at around 1-3 AM)
3) Not yet, might do some spotting while I'm in New York, but I'm a (poor) student, withut the money needed for that.
4) I plan to do some European flights with SAS, to get on the new A330 before they start using them on the flightsd across the pond.
