Airline Simulation Gameplay Rule Is Dumb

I got my airline simulation couple days ago (only took about 3 day from australia).

I have couple suggestion that I would like to see next version to be changed.

1. Unlimited Hub.
2. If 1 is not possible, remove the requirement that a plane must pass through hub twice. I try to route my 737 from hub in HKG to BEIJING-Tokyo-beijing-hkg. It will not allow me to do so. This is such a stupid requirement.
3. Stock prices on the other company is way too high. I have more destination, more fleet, tons of profit, yet my stock is $2.50. While the computer generated airline has about 50 aircraft with profit margin lower than my 200+ fleet, yet its stock is $110.50. And while trying to buy some stock, I must bid excessive high for stock. What gives?
4. Cargo Contract- I accidentally took a CDG-MNL freight contract. There is no way that any cargo plane can fly CDG-MNL direct. So why can't i get credit for routing CDG-DXB-SIN-MNL.

It's still worth the money.

I wish it could be more realistic. Because at this time, you can schedule a flight to leave within 5 minutes of arrival and the computer will not say a thing. We all know that it is impossible to turn around a plane in 5 minutes. I have been able to use only 1 aircraft on NRT-Frankfurt run, which in real life would require at least 2.

Also after hitting 50 plane, it's very easy to double or quadruple your fleer within half year. My fleet went from 50 to 108 to 256 within 2 quarter because my profit was extremely high. My last quarter I had profit of $17 billion and cash balance of $60 billion. This was after I placed order for 70 ERJ-190, 60 A330, 40 747-400, and 40 A340-600 prepaid.

It seems that any new route introduced is a sucess. So far I have not lost money on any route. Even on the route that I introduced before advertising.

An easy way to beat this game is to set up hubs in europe, Middle east, 2 in America, 1 in asia, and 1 in Australia ASAP. Then lease as many A320/737 as possible to begin domestic service. For example, I am filling up on every flight between DCA-JFK-Boston. Funny thing is that I have flight leaving every 15 minutes on this route. And it has been a cash cow. Not too realistic.

the economics are seriously bad in this game! Any domestic flight you do runs at 100% load factor as soon as you introduce it. I always fly out of either Edinburgh (EDI) or LHR, and any domestic route i add fills immediately, even on 6 flights a day!!

If i introduce a 747 Transatlantic flight to new york, i get about 50 people in economy and none in first class, and i still make a profit!! This is not very realistic at all!!

I preordered Airlines 2 last night, hopefully it is much better!!

This is strange too.

My long haul flights the 1st and business class are packed to the bone but i can't fill up the economy class.

My 747 has 10 1st, 30 business, 400 economy. On flight between TPE-SFO i can fill the 1st and business no problem at all. But I am only getting about 150 to 200 on economy.

Also, I am chargine $520.00 per pax km for 1st, $160 per pax km for business and only $20 per pax km for economy.

So in other words I am charging my 1st class pax $5.2 million to fly TPE-SFO and they love it.

Has anyone tried Airpro 2000 for Windows? It is freeware so I am sure it is not spectacular but I am going to download it when I get home. Does it totally blow?? Anyway - Airlines 2000 hits the streets tomorrow here according to the computer shop guy and I have one on hold  Smile so yeah, anyway - anytips on airpro 2000?

What I do to not make unrealistic profit is just lower the price. The price for economy on my airline is about 7 or 8. One of the airlines I had before was business at 120 and economy at 0 so business paid for the economy pax.

Couldn't you make the game more fun by trying to replicate actual airlines. For example if i get the game i was thinking of trying to copy Virgin Blue and break into the Aussie market and only fly domestic routes or this just too boreing ???? Does the game have any scenarios where you have to rescue battling airlines etc......

For a evolving work in progress www.airlinesimulation.com is a great simulation.

While some areas need work, I don't complain too much about making oodles of money. That is a lot more relaxing and enjoyable than real life!!

Regarding Cargo routings: CDG-DXB-SIN-MNL, when you create the flight make sure each leg has the same flight number. So CDG - DXB could be flight 8, and while the program prompts you to use Flight 9 for DXB-SIN, overide the 9 with 8, and similarly make sure flight reads number 8 for SIN-MNL for your next fuel stop. If you can then see MNL-CDG in the Schedule screen with 2 stops it is working. Of course make sure your aircraft is configured as a freighter!! Having said that I find it hard (make that impossible) to make money as an all freight airline and they are assessing what changes they can make to the sim so one can replicate an Atlas Air!

To all interested, I contacted Frank (the creator), and he said that corrections/innovations in the next version include:

*Realistical pax. loads
*More competition
*More negotiations to obtain landing rights
*More options in configurations of the airplane, plus, the screens and phones give profits, and they get old too.
*The abbility to carry the Mail of your home country, plus cargo in pax. flights.
*New airplane types
*New types of food, etc.
*Changes to the Zulu time mode.
*Recognition of stops in flghts with different flight numbers.
*flight transfers

And Chiawei: Probably you're not charging $520 per km., but $5,20, as the prices are given in cents. So when you charge 10 in a flight of 1000 km., you're not charging 10*1000= $10000, but 0,10*1000= $100.

I would like to see more information on the citys served. For instance if your hub city serves 100 other citys you hub citys economy should improve. Or The airport congestion. IF you have hundreds of flights a day coming and going from a given hub it should show its relative congestion.
I would also like to see a stake in some of the company's that serve the airlines such as the limousine services become available. Or another idea much like the old game aerobiz you should be able to purchase hotels catering and attractions that make certain citys inviting to visit.
These are some of the things that I think would make Airline a superior game.
I still look forward to the next improvement.

Well i have got my copy of this game, and as of yet i cant figure out how to use this stupid thing. First of all there is no manual??? wtf's up with that?
So i'm thinking ok, i'll try there site see if its online, no luck. Cant even get onto the site. So last resort, scan through the CD for the manual....yep you guessed it, not here either.
Someone want to enlighten me on where the manual is ??? Soon as posible would be good.

Ba they are probably down for the upcomming upgrade. The manual is available at their website. IF you could get to it. What problems are you having with it? Its a pretty straitforward system.

But there are couple more problem I have this this. I recently bought 2 other airline throught the stock market. However, since i own these 2 company, why can't i change the advertising nor publish magazine for the company i acquired? Also, I can't even change the fleet maint for the acquired airline?

Also, i am quiet puzzled at stock market evaluation. One of the airline that I acquired as fleet of 24 plane and is not make money. However, it cost me $300 per share and there is about 10,000,000 share outstanding. What gives?

The reason that I need to buy another airline is so that I can deal away with 500 plane/6 hub limit. since I have abundance of cash, I was able to immediately lease 500 aircraft for the airline i just took over. 250 744 and 250 A333. How can this be possible to lease 500 planes within a quarter? Moreover, since I was not able to change the advertising, i found it very difficult to accept that I was able to fill 90% of flight for my newly acquired airline.

At this time, I own 3 airlines each contribute to about $200 billion per quarter. yes, the parent stock price is $4.90. While my other two airline that i acquired has stock value that skyrocketed.

This is a great game. But still many things needs to be worked out. also, the cargo contract problem i have still persist even after using the same flight number.

I agree chiawei. There are some fundamental problems with the game flow. But these seem to be fairly easy to remedy. I know that the next fix due at the end of this month will address some of the issues you bring up such as the ease with which money is made.

This game will be much more interesting when the online multiplayer version comes out.

Then we can have some real competition and hopefully many many more competing airlines.

Got the game maybe a week ago. One bug I wish they would fix is the limit of only one bid per quarter when you try to buy stock in another airline. In order to figure how how much the airlines are willing to accept you have to keep placing numerous bids til one goes through. This just takes too much time.
