Just heard word that Chicago's Meigs Aiport has been shutdown. Info can be found at the AOPA website here. This is truly a sad lose to the general aviation community.

What an asshole. Daley has effectively delivered a blow to all pilots "below the belt." I'd like to personally return the favor.

Is sad, I think Meigs was the most famous GA aerodrome in the world, thanks to MSFS. I think if I go to chicago one day, I will recognize perfectly that area...

Can I request for some kind of sceenshot competition from Meigs? might be funny to see what are you able to do there... I'm sorry I can't start it, I'm unable to post...

Miquel.

It's a funny thing... I have never actually been to Meigs, I have no actual affiliation with Chicago, and yet when I read about Daley's underhanded and duplicitous tactics it makes me really quite angry!

What a complete an utter A**H***!!!!  Angry  Angry  Angry

I'm with all of you. I took my first flights with FS out of Meigs. I know that airport automatically when I see a real picture. It is a huge symbol of general aviation and a shame that it was taken. I'll have to hold with my UPSVAC buddies in hoping that a lawyer who uses Meigs regularly isnt happy either!!

No it is not a joke. That prick Daily did it. That guy is an anti aviation crusader. He has been trying to close it down for years to forward his own agenda. He has been wanting to put a casino there for years.
Someone might want to tell microsoft to change the default airport as that one no longer exsists.

The guy moved in overnight without telling anyone and dug the runway up! What are they going to do with all the planes that are stuck there?

Im not big on the Law side of things, but could those pilots with thier planes at Meigs, sue the city or Daily for anything since their aircraft are stuck there?
