When I've been to large airports like Denver or Seoul-Incheon, Korea, I can't hear some of the ATC transmissions between other planes. Is this normal? I know I'm tuned to the tower but when an AI plane taxi's for takeoff I don't hear their request for takeoff? Am I missing something?

I've tripped off of this too. What's happening is that at larger airports, there is more than one tower and ground frequency. Just check out the map view and go to the airport-like DFW-and look at the radio frequency list...
