I have two Northwest safety cards, dated 1986 - one for a DC-9-10 and the other for CV-580. Both are labeled: "Northwest Orient". I thought when Northwest Orient merged with Republic their named officially changed to "Northwest". So, why do the cards say NW orient?

This is actually very unusual...
At the time of the merger, NW Orient was operating the 727, 747, 757, and DC-10. They acquired the DC-9 and Convair 880 from Republic. I don't know why these cards were still carrying the title of Northwest Orient, since the newly formed carrier was "Northwest Airlines."
