I would like to purchase one of these products, but can't pick one or the other. I would love to get any owners opinions on which one to go for.

Happy Holidays.

I've got Airline 5 & I was kinda surprised. It's 110% harder than I expected. It's a great game, but you have to know what you're doing & make it all work to make a profit.

I had an airline based at JAX with 8 734s & added a couple EMB-120...I was doing well until I got cocky & leased a 767-200ER for LGW flights. Killed me. I don't think you can cancel a lease on a plane, so you're stuck with it until the lease is over.

I tried another (which I'm still working on) at AUS with ERJ-145s & 757s & am doing pretty well, turning a profit, but as time goes on, you end up losing money on routes...the ERJ routes are doing well, the 757s are either full or running me down.

I've always been intrigued by this game particularly since many on this board are quite high on it. The online edition sounds like an awesome way to refine your skills, but from what DeltaRules suggests, which seems logical, I think I'll be starting with the "solo" version.

In the online version, how often do you interact with the site, i.e. how fast do the simulations go and subsequently how often are decisions required to keep it moving?

I've heard good and bad about it. There ARE alternatives in the making, however.

Well first, Airline is much easier than what was reported. I am on my 8th year and have $66 billion and make about $4 billion a quarter now. However the game is really good and i would highly recommend it. The programmers are always making updates available for downloading off their website.

Airline Online is a group of individuals all competing against each other. You are given like 4 or 5 days to complete all your activities for the quarter and then the company processes the quarter at a specific time. A benefit with Airline Online is that you are competing against people who are knowledgeable about the airline industry and know where to fly. In Airline the airlines competing against you typically fly out of small airports in the middle of no where and fall into the red quickly.

Not a terribly good AI, is it?

No, they are working on it though and it has gotten somewhat better but they hope in the next few major updates that they can make the AI airlines tougher to compete with.

I just purchased Airline 5 (no online) - I haven't received it yet, but am anxious to get started.

DeltaRules - any suggestions on a good approach to get going?

Thanks!

Had a look at your site, InnocuousFox, and must say it looks bloody brilliant!

Quite excited!

One question - will you consider extending a to a full-world simluation, or perhaps different editions for different parts of the world? eg Europe, Asia etc?

The game does look like it will be really good.

1.) When will it be done, a month? And how will it be available?
2.) I think this game is along the same lines as Airline but it's somewhat of a different focus. Airline is concetrated on essentially being a CEO of an airline and not only controlling routes/prices but also the stock market and buying other airlines. This game seems more concentrated on being a scheduler for an airline and is much more detailed in that aspect. Also it seems like you will be facing real-world situations with live aircraft, such as diversions and delays. Whereas in Airline you just schedule aircraft for a quarter and see if they make money.

Regardless i am definitely interested in buying this game to go along with Airline, just as long as it's not a high price.

Tell ya what... in order to keep me legal around here, I would really like to deflect further discussion of the game specifics over to the message board on our site. Thanks for your interest... I appreciate it. And I really do want to answer your questions... but this is not the place.

Thanks!
