Ok, let me preface this by saying that I HAVE SEARCHED the forum for an answer. While most topics on this subject have some input, I was unable to find the info I was looking for. Mainly because I am unfamilar with computer "lingo."

I just purchased FS2004, and it starts up 95% of the time with no problem. Once I go to my flight and then switch to spot plan, it freezes. Then I tried to hop in the Wright Flyer, and it froze as I was taking off. I am only expierencing the problem in FS2004, and not other programs.

I am not "pro" with computers, but I'm not entirely sure why this happening. While I was loading FS2004, a window popped up and told me I should obtain the latest drivers for my video card. If I did not, FS2004 might freeze. So, I did, and its still freezing.

My computer has 368 MB of RAM, S3 Prosavage Video Card, and besides that I am not sure. What else do I need to ensure that I have?

Guys/Gals, I am sorry I can't tell you more about my computer, but I am eager to learn about how I can fix it. Like most of you, I enjoy flying MSFS, and can't wait to get FS2004 up and running.

Happy New Year and thanks in advance for your help.

Nick

S3 Pro Savage Video Card

This is 99% the reason why your getting the crash. MSFS:COF does not support any of the "S3" chipsets. (Except 2 that are for laptops). "S3 inc" is no longer around, and the newest drivers for the "Savage/SavagePro" are almost 2 years old.

Sinlock-

Thanks.

Gateway Tech Support suggested this:

Jaton 3DForce4 Ti4200-8X Diamond
GeForce4 Ti4200 w/ AGP 8X
AGP 3.0 support
128MB DDR onboard
RGB + VIVO + DVI
$134.95

Do you think this would solve my problem?

Nick

Just go get a 64MB card at bloody Best Buy or something... ATI, Nvidia, whatever... you will be good to go.

That card should do nicely IF you install it correctly.
I guess the ancient one is an onboard chipset on your motherboard? If so make sure you disable it before installing the new card or it won't work properly.
Also install the correct drivers  Smile

I was on the phone with support while I installed it. They told me to put the new card in, then insert and run the CD. Would the CD have automatically unistalled the old chips?
