to celebrate the world longest commerical flight, i decided to fly the same route.
The flight was uneventful until just outside of CA, where weather turned extremely bad. Speed was varying by about 10 knots throught out the decent. Turbulence was severe. Cross wind is about 40 knots. Very rough approach into LAX 25R. Funny thing happened just prior to landing. After contacting the tower for clearance to land. I guess the weather updated itself again. The weather turned into clear. The tower instead of cleared me to land on 25R, decided to clear me to left leg pattern to land on 7L. So I bypassed instruction and landed on 25R instead (too late for me to do anything).
So while taxiing to the gate, I kept on hearing "XX you are not cleared to land, clear the runway). All of AI traffic was landing on 25R and ran into the same problem i had. Funny thing is that the departing traffic is departing on 7R. So I had numerous witness tons of mid-air collision yesterday.
total flight time 15 hours and 17 minutes. Tonight i will try KLAX-WSSS run on SQ19.

Know what you mean guys! I do Singapore - EHAM occasionally - late at night. 13 hours and 5 minutes depending on weather. Set the alarm next morning so that I can have breakfast before the T/D point ( yes, I am using the PSS package), and then land. Wake up the house with thrust reversers. Magic!
