Several years ago I received models from British Airways (L1011 and BAC-1-11) and Lauda Air (CRJ).
These were these plastic snap-together models made by Wooster - scale is 1:200 / 1:300.

A few days ago I received a parcel from Lauda Air containing an inflight magazine, many postcards, company profile, Lauda Air B777 information folders and a B737-300 safety card. So, I think that Lauda Air doesn't send models anymore.
Anyway, I'm convinced that the Austrian and German airliners stay on the absolute TOP for sending various aviation stuff !

What do you guys do to get those sort of things sent to you?

Are you all travel agents?

Thanks

Mike, this thread is 6 years old
It was the good old days when airlines gave you stuff.
No airline that I know of does this anymore.

Thanks

I've gotten a A319 from Indepence Air at an airshow for free. My company sells them on there website. They got a high end model and a low end. Pretty nice but alittle pricey.

British airways were selling models of a 747 and concorde at an airshow a few weeks ago, they cost £10 with half of the money going to a cancer charity.

I had to write to Richard Branson/Virgin Atlantic for a lesson in school, I got sent a auto-graph and some postcards of the planes, In the past when I was younger I had written to him and he had sent me a 747 and an A340 old livery model.

Lot's of Airlines have sent me stuff since I started in about 1997 (Used to give me something to do when I was lil. I don't do it much now, but some airlines can be very kind, I recieve alot of Post Cards if I decide to write to one.

I have recieved stuff off some of the airlines below - these are just some.

Air Singapour - Window sticker and info on fleet/airline
British Airways - A few Utopia Models
Virgin Atlantic - 2 models, postcards & Auto-graph
Ryanair - sent a order form
Air 2000 - sent a order form
First Choice - sent a order form
Aer Lingus - sent a order form
Cyprus Air - sent some postcards and pens
DHL - Via E-mail - got sent lots of DHL stuff  Smile

Lot's of Airlines will reply to you, but at the same time lot's wont.

Depends.

Here's an idea - pretend to be a 5 year old obsessed with aviation and you might get more than if you say "Uh, I'm a 28 year old plane nut - gimme free stuff".

BTW - could this possibly be the oldest continuous thread on a.net?

Here's some of the airlines which have sent me stuff for my own collection in the last 12 or so months:

Russian Sky - Il-86 s/c
Khantyavia - Yak-40 + Mi-8 s/c
Aviashelf - Mi-8 s/c
Nefteyugansk OAO - Mi-8 s/c
MIAT - An-26 s/c
Volga-Dnepr - Il-76, Yak-40, An-124 s/c
Iran Air Tours - Tu-154 s/c
GTK Rossiya - Mi-8, Tu-214, Tu-154, Tu-134, Yak-40, Il-18, Il-62, Il-96-300 s/c
Orenburg Airlines - Tu-134, An-24, Tu-154 s/c
Vladivostok Air - Yak-40, Tu-154B, Tu-154M, Tu-204-300 s/c

Of course, it helps speaking the language, although 175+ of the other airlines didn't reply at all. Tight wads!  Smile

Even though the last post is 2 years old I might as well chime in. I got the following models as gifts in 1:200 scale from these 2 airlines. The CX is made by Herpa and QR models by Hogan. Being a premium frequent flyer with QR, they just dumped them on me:

Cathay Pacific:

B777-300
A330-300

Qatar Airways:

A340-600 (3)
A330-300 asian games red livery (3)
A330-300 asian games orange livery (1)
A330-200 asian games blue livery (1)
A330-200 (4)

Well in regards to the CX models, I met the country manager of CX where I live and told him I collect models and he asked me if I have any CX models in my collection so I told him I had the 1:200 A340-600 which I bought for $50 and he then said he has something more I might like to add to my collection and the next time I saw him he came along with the 1:200 B777-300 and A330-300.

As for the QR models, these were made exclusively for the QR marketing dept and not for public sale. They were only given to select QR agents but later on I heard that their sales offices were also giving them away to QR priviledge club members which I am, so I just sent them a fax with my membership number and told them that I collect a/c models and would love to have a few QR models to add to my collection and I got an immediate reply asking for my address and within a week I received a huge FedEx box with a dozen models inside, many of them doubles and even triples of the same model.
