Hi all,

Any insight on the best airline model manufacturers from this group:

Hogan Wings v. Skymarks v. Long Prosper (Flight Miniatures) v. Wooster v. any others that belong in this category of models (there are so many different companies making them now)

I'd be interested to hear about the strengths and weaknesses of each manufacturer. Thanks in advance for any insight!

If 1:200 is the scale in question, Hogan Wings is clearly the best among the 3 manufacturers named. Among the reasons: Hogan Wings have the most accurate overall appearance and a higher standard of manufacture; landing gear is also available for Hogan Wings models (and is included with some). Even so, basic details are mostly non-existent on Hogan Wings 1:200 models, though a "step up" from Skymarks and Long Prosper. All in all, when compared to models from the other two manufacturers mentioned in this topic, Hogan Wings are well worth a few extra dollars.

The main strengths of Skymarks and Long Prosper are accurate airline markings. Beyond that, the models are recognizeable as to the aircraft type, but not much more IMHO, other than their low pricetag.

In the 1:200 range of finished models, StarJets and Herpa are both vastly superior to Hogan Wings, Skymarks and Long Prosper. The difference in quality is well worth the difference in price (about $10-15 more for narrowbodies, $20-30 more for widebodies). Unfortunately StarJets has announced that their 1:200 line has been discontinued due to poor sales.

Long prosper has large range, but hogan is the best quality. I wish they had more of a selection. Hogan has gear, that takes the cake. Skymarks however, makes a great A-380. E-mail/post me any questions for anymore info on 1:200, I have a lot of these and I know a lot about them.
