Help! I'm a recent transplant to the NYC area from Washington, and miss my spot at National. Are there any good places to spot at JFK? Thanks for your help.

You picked the worst to do spotting. Due to security measures the police chase you away. ALthough a good spot is by the Customs building. It puts you in front of 31R/13L. You can smell the tires burning. DCA has it right.
