I apologize for the quality of the pictures. I took them with my cell phone. But you should still be able to see them anyway.

Have any of you ever painted up a model in a "fantasy" color scheme? Or better yet, ever create a nonexistant fantasy airline and create your own livery?
If so, I'd like to see some of them.

And while you're at it, please citique mine. And bonus points for anyone who can do one of those "digitally enhanced" photos depicting what looks to be an actual photograph in this color scheme.

I thought I'd give it a try. Considering I don't have much of an imagination, I thought I actually did pretty good. Please don't laugh too hard. Like I said, this was my first attempt at such a project.

The name I came up was a shell-shocking...

are you ready for this?

"Jet West"

Original, huh?

Well, I've always been a big fan of the western airlines such as AirCal, Reno Air, PSA, etc. And I live in the West, so I figured I'd go with something indicative of my area.

I had to make the color scheme simple yet attractive. My airliner modelling experience and know how is very limited, so a complex design of stripes, cheatlines, and so on was out of the question.

But then, I remembered two very colorful airlines, JAS and TransBrazil. So they get the credit as my inspiration. And a "EuroWhite" fuselage was out, so I thought I'd try something that might enhance the colors and "geographical region" of my airline, so I went with a nice sandy brown, which I spraypainted on.

I did the model entirely by hand on a Long Prosper/Flight Miniatures 737-700 1:200 scale model. I'm considering doing a whole fleet in this color scheme, such as a 737-200, 300, -500, maybe an MD-80, a 717, and an A320.

The title letters were decal sheets of text that I found in a hobby shop. The "West" is actually a very dark navy blue, although in the pictures it looks black. And the windows and doors were taken from a set of EasyJet 1:200 scale 737-300 decals that I found in the same shop.

Not a fantasy airline, but i made a 'fantasy' livery on my airfix B737-200, keeping the Air France tail, but putting the colours of the country's flag over the fueselage and the engines, so that if you look down on the aircraft you see the country's flag in two directions. If i find that model then i will take a pic of it and show it. It's in my loft now, probably covered in bird and rat shit.
