Why does Microsoft not put real airlines already into the game? I understand that they have to get permission and all that process but wouldnt the airlines like to have their product endorced in the game? Thatd be just like advertising there

Well I would think they would need full permision from the Airlines. But one would also think if Microsoft took the time to ask the airlines it would scream "free advertising"...

I'm afraid that "free advertising" would be an oversimplistic view. When you start having multi-billion dollar companies asking to use other companies logos and trademarks in one of its products, you have all kinds of legal problems. Also it could easily lead to bad publicity for the airline if a local news program runs a show and uses its colors for say a re-creation of 9/11 in FS. Also what airlines do you ask? I mean theres hundreds upon hundreds, and if you start with foreign airlines then thats ANOTHER legal headache.

Simple answer: it wouldn't be free. You want real airlines, go for PAI  Smile

Just buy Microsoft Traffic 2004, I'm getting mine, it is being freighted as we speak. It should get some good airlines and aircraft. However I hear that ultimate traffic is better.

PAI is my way to go, as well as a few others. In FS2000, I know for a fact that the Concorde was in British Airways livery, and BA is real Smile

Yup, the concorde was in BA colors. And there is no need for MS to include real airlines, as there are hundreds of thousands of freeware aircraft (much better than defaults mind you) that feature real world airlines.

NorthStarDC4M:
I found out about add-on aircraft after seeing a television program that showed an AA 757 in FS2000 crashing into the WTC (not the best way to find out...). Obviously this was not included in the simulator, so, while MS is probably covering their backs by not including them, the media knows where to find the "real" plane.

Even Traffic 2004 ran into copyright problems as evidenced by the AA paint scheme it is shipped with. MS have always stated they cannot include real airlines for copyright reasons. But no bad thing, it encourages more freeware and payware add on development.

I have been using PAI schedules and replacing the aircraft with AI-Aarrdavark.

Majority of PAI's aircraft are so badly done, it make default aircraft looks like work of art.

My real question is why not more boeing aircraft in FS? all the 737 versions, the 727, 767, and 757. Maybe some ERJ's and CRJ's. Maybe they just want more money so they make you buy those ones......

I have been replacing all the aircraft that came with Ultimate Traffic (great program) with Aardvark and FSPainter aircraft. But may I recommend using MRAI (Most Realistic AI) flightplans, as they are the same PAI uses, but updated more frequently. I think their site is http://www.mostrealisticai.com.

interesting is that one of those default MS airlines has a colosheme which looks totally like the MAERSK AIR c/s.

MRAI produce excellent flight plans, especially considering they are all free.

@TriJetFan1 - FS2004's default (737 upwards size) airliner fleet is entirely Boeing based. Perhaps in FS2006 we'll see some Airbuses. But putting in all sorts of different aircraft has never been Microsoft's main priority, if you want really detailed aircraft buy the add ons. Compared to the likes of the PMDG 737NG, the new PSS models and even the freeware aircraft such as iFDG A320 the default FS9 aircraft are hopeless, I never fly them anymore.

I've been considering doing that since the Aardvark models do look better than the PAI ones. Do the PAI aircraft give better framerates than the AI Aardvark ones?

I remember that Dateline did a section after 9/11 that discussed that the hijackers had used FS2000 and some 757 addon package. Kinda hit flight simulation there.

And were not going to see Airbusses in FS10. In case you haven't notice,

Microsoft Flightsim Development Team = Seattle
Boeing = Seattle
Airbus = Toulouse

And if you notice there is a Maersk 737, Braniff 747, and Royal Jordanian 737 (in my opinion) in a look-alike scheme.

And finally (I love my ands), AI Aardvark aircraft are more framerate friendly than the PAI aircraft.

Holy sh*ts and burritos.

Cool, that's great. I'll start replacing some of them soon.

Ok, let's think about this one. Microsoft is based near Seattle, WA. Boeing builds a good portion of their commercial aircraft and is the largest employer in the state of Washington. They also contribute to MSFS, as noted in the software. I believe they give MS some drawings and stuff, not sure. But I have high doubts that we will EVER see an Airbus in any version of MSFS.
