Interesting Routes To Fly In FS2004?

Hey all,

In a moment I'm going to fly in FS2004 and I'm looking for some nice routes.
The only thing is that the routes must not be that long. So I'm looking for routes like with nice scenery for example, or a route between 2 airports that are very nice to land/take-off.

Thanks,

FJWH

Try AMS-LCY (KLM cityhopper) or RTM-LCY (VLM) with the Fokker 50.

LAX-SFO is quite a nice short route, considering there are "detailed" sceneries for both airports, and the descent into San Francisco Bay especially at sunset is really nice.

For the F70/F100 visit: http://fokker.avsim.net/, This fokker model was build for FS2002, but there's something on the website to make it compatible with 2004.

For the Fokker 50, search at avsim for "dream wings fokker 50" and you will find your model. There are also panels available for both of them.

Kind regards,

Jeroen

Whitehorse-Braeburn in something like a Cessna or a Beaver is nice. Accually most places in the Yukon and Alaska are quite nice to fly around to.

A lot of you mentioned SFO. I'm going to try it out  Smile/happy/getting dizzy !

CanadianNorth, the airports you mentioned, what are the codes? I'm always looking for some interesting Cessna routes because I usually don't have much time for FS.

Whitehorse is CYXY, not sure what Braeburn is, but Its easy to find if you just set it to Canada and set it to Yukon Territory, the list is only maybe 10-20 airports long (Give or take a bit.) But when you click Whitehorse make sure you go to Whitehorse International (our accual airport) and not Cousins (thats just a little gravel strip down the highway a bit)

Thanks CanadianNorth, I'll check them out. That gravel strip sounds interesting though to practice some short field landings on occasion.

Another gorgeous flight is Tokyo Haneda/Narita to Osaka Itami/Kansai. Osaka Bay is ringed by city and mountains and both departure and arrival routings into Tokyo overfly Suruga Bay adjacent to Shizuoka prefecture and Mt. Fuji.

I'll also second ZKSUJ's suggestion of flying into Queenstown. Great mountain scenery all around and a fun approach to rwy. 5 (I think).

Try to land into Innsbruck (Austria) (LOWI)
Munich - Innsbruck is a short one.
Try it with A320 or a 737 or Fokker 70/100. You can try some turbo props too for simplicity.
On first time I could not figure how they do such things in real life. Its interesting.
Lowi - to some european city is a challenging too with a jet.
On take off you face steep mountains. I tried it with some heavies like DC-10, L1011s and FSIM ATC just tells you to turn accoridng to GPS and you face challenging steep climbs.
For starter try with some twin engines (light one )737, F70/100, CRJ, A319/320, EMBs, etc, not heavy and enjoy.)
LOWI munich is pretty close by, you you can done in an hour.

My favourite short flights with default scenery:

KLAX to KSAN/KSFO/KLAS/KABQ (and return) - A320 / B727/B737/B767/B777
KSLC to KSFO/KSEA (and return) - A320 / B727/B737/B767/B777
KDEN to KASP in a Learjet, RJ or DH8.
YSCB to YSSY (and return) in a B737, RJ, Metroliner or SAAB 340.
EGLL to EHAM (and return) all aircraft

My favourites with added scenery:

YMML to YSSY/YPAD (and return) - A320 / B727/B737/B767
YSSY to YBBN (and return) - A320 / B727/B737/B747/B767
NZAA / NZWN / NZCH (all combo's) - B737 / ATR (B747 into ZZWN is fun)
RJAA to RJBB (and return) - all aircraft
EGLL to EGCC/LFPG (and return) - all aircraft
LIMC to LIPZ (and return) - B737/B727 / RJ / MD80

I haven't even touched on the US East Coast yet either  Big thumbs up . I find the best thing to do is get an atlas (an old school atlas is fine) and look for major cities that are around 400-700 km appart.

Have Fun!!!

The Whitehorse-Braeburn flight you recommended was great! The flight has simple airports (I chose the gravel strip north of the other Whitehorse airport). I got some nice weather effects with real world weather and I flew visually by the lakes. I think I could have followed a road that ran along a long narrow lake. Nevertheless, I arrived only 3 minutes later than what MSFS said my plan should have been (25 min versus 22 min planned). My landing was great too, and I definitely enjoyed looking around at the scenery from the cockpit on the way! Thanks again for the recommendation  Big thumbs up ! I'm going to fly this one again very soon.

KRNO-KSEA: In real life (and in FS2004) this route is STUNNING. You get to see the mountains (Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Shashta, Mt. Rainier) its nice. Also any flight into SFO or Hawaii (especially OGG or KOA {KONA}).

Cramos... that road by the lake was probably at Fox Lake. The North Klondike Highway goes between Whitehorse and Dawson City (South Klondike Highway is the one from Whitehorse to Skagway) and it passes through Braeburn and on the way follows Fox Lake for a while. Its a beautiful highway to drive, and its also a nice place to fly on FS eh!

What could possibly go wrong?
25 Cramos: It sure is CanadianNorth. By the way, do you have other similar routes that are about the same length, if not shorter? Canada is a very nice place, an
26 CanadianNorth: Whitehorse-Juneau is longer, but is also a nice ride (but in yer aircraft choice remember you need to slowly get up to oh I cant remember now maybe 10
