I am trying to help a friend applying for a new airline as a pilot and he has to pass a check on the 737-300. He asked me if I can help him finding a
a very good freeware 737-300 cockpit add-on for FS2004 (everything can help). Can someone help me ?
I know there is the PMDG 737-800 and dreamfleet's 737-400 but they are payware and not -300. Anyhow, do you know by the way if the dreamfleet' 737 work with FS2004?

The Dreamfleet 737-400 does not work with '04. It is an FS2000 product upgraded to work with 2002. That is the closest you will get to a real 733.
The best freeware one out there is the FFX/SGA model. An example of the full aircraft download is file gfs_733_ffx.zip on AVSIM.
Unfortunately, the freeware panels do not work anywhere close to the real thing (Dreamfleet and PMDG does, however). The main difference is the way that the autopilot works. The Dreamlfleet and PMDG correctly simulate the use of the ALTITUDE HOLD, LEVEL CHANGE, VNAV and LNAV with an intergrated FMC.
I assume that your friend is applying for a VIRTUAL airline, in which case a check ride on an FS plane using a freeware panel may suffice.
In the days when I flew the FFX 737 series, the flight dynamics were a bit aggressive, so I used the dynamics from the default 737.

Try this 737-300 panel, very good and very easy on frame rates. It doesn't really have much functionality in comparison to the other panels out there (for other types) however it is the best 733. I got the extra light files (rather than have the orange) so now my night light is green - it's much easier on the eyes.
