Hey all

I got some questions about Traffic 2004 Add-On Flightsim.
Is this easy to install, does it work nice?
Anybody got experiences with this OR other traffic add-ons?
Are there many options with this add-on? Like you want certain planes to fly to certain destinations on certain times, is this possible? Can somebody give me the key features?

Thanks,

Tjap!

Dont have alot of time here so. It is great lots of options and very easy to use. You can even create your own airline by just using paint to paint the planes. Great add on very easy. Ultimate traffic is good to but not as easy.

Traffic 2004 is good for instantly getting a large amount of AI. However it does not follow real world schedules, and doesn't include the range of airlines that Ultimate Traffic has. Also the American Airlines livery is wrong for copyright reasons, and there are a whole lot of Virgin Concordes and A380s flying around! So in short, it's good but not realistic. Ultimate Traffic will do you much better for realism, particularly as it has all the updates.

Thanks!

LHR27C: you would recommend Ultimate traffic?
But what I would love to see is for example AMS with lots of traffic arrivals, departures and planes flying around. Is this possible with one or both of the mentioned add-on traffic programs?
And how is this program working with ATC?
And was does the shortcut AI mean  Innocent Innocent?

thanks!!

FJWH: yes it is very possible. That is the reason to get it. Ultimate Traffic is much more realistic. I would have gotten it if I did not want to have my VA flying around. But you can always get repaints and flights plans and create your own flight plans or paint you own planes very easly in Traffic 2004. They are both great. It just depends on what you need. ATC handles Traffic 2004 pretty good even at 100% traffic. I have it around 90-95% But In europe I have it around 86% So much traffic. And at night around 60-70%.

Traffic 2004 is very easy to install. The planes on the add on are mainly to be used for AI so the textures aern't the best quality, but they are very good for it's purpose.
Ultimate traffic can be bought onliune at pcaviator.com the price is either $49 or $59 australian.

http://ultimatetraffic.flight1.net/ is the Ultimate Traffic website.

To be honest, both add ons will pack out something like AMS, but UT more realistically than Traffic 2004. It depends how realistic an experience you want. I found that with Traffic 2004 there were huge take off queues and within a couple of hours airports were virtually empty (bearing in mind the number of go arounds AI tend to make). UT is better. Now I use PAI for the packages they supply, and running on MRAI flight plans the AI operation is very smooth.

AI stands for Artificial Intelligence, AFAIK, but in terms of FS it is "the other aircraft you see flying around"  Big grin.

Both are crap, the best way to do it is by doing it yourself. Use PAI to kick start you and then once you are writing plans it is easy.

Some of these sites may help:

http://www.projectai.com - Packages which you just have to install directly and they will be done straight away
http://www.mostrealisticai.com - Up to date airlines, but no aircraft included.

Some smaller sites:

http://www.aiflightplans.tk - My site, still in early stages, but provides a few charters and low costs, including Britannia Su2005 plans.
http://www.freewebs.com/flightplans - Fellow flightsim.com user specialising mainly in smaller airlines (some i'd never even heard of) which makes your traffic go from good to great. Remember, everybody will have the larger airlines. Also he releases plans almost daily.

The best bit is that it is all Freeware, so you don't pay a penny. Also you can choose what aircraft you want to use. The aircraft in FSTraffic and Ultimate Traffic are crap quality, but by doing it manually you can use class AI models from the likes of AI-Aardvark, FSPainter, Tsumu Urakawa etc

http://www.ai-aardvark.com - Great quality, low poly aircraft.

Stephen - I totally agree with you that PAI with MRAI and FSPainter/AIAardvark models provide a much more realistic environment than either UT or Traffic 2004. But it isn't a case of hit install and bingo, your world is full of AI, although with the PAI Installer the installation process for packages is getting very good. I think certainly FSTraffic is aimed at those who just want lots of airlines flying around and don't care for the quality of schedules.

I love my AI Heathrow now, compared to what Traffic 2004 did with it, it's quite unreal, but it took a lot of work  Smile.

Yeah i can see where you're coming from. Sometimes i see a repaint of a flightplan for an airline and think that it would be good, but just cannot be bothered to go through the installation process. Iran Air is one example of that. I have all the repaints and flightplans, but i still havn't done them yet.

My AI is all manual (inclusive of PAI and MRAI). However when i first started i just installed all the PAI packages because i just wanted to have some AI. It was great, yet some places (mainly Japan) were almost empty (no ANA or JAL plans then) and i thought it was hardly good to have that. So thats when i started with MRAI and Manual. Now i have replaced all the PAI packages with more up to date plans and better aircraft, except the ones where there are no more up to date plans or the ones that i don't really care about in terms of realism.

FJWH,
I have UT and it is a very good AI software package, and I highly recommend it. It is has many airlines (although the downside is that most come without a livery and you have to download the liveries from PAI), many aircraft, comes with an AI traffic tracker and other tools. Also, it is much more releastic than Traffic 2004.

If you want, you can take the free option and use PAI packages and MRAI flightplans.

Also, I use for example a combination of all. I use UT for all traffic, but I disable all airlines released by MRAI for Summer 2004 as it is much more releastic. So basically, I use UT to fill in the huge gaps in the world, because it has so many airlines.

Here are some helpful links:
http://www.projectai.com
http://www.ai-aardvark.com
http://arnz.cjb.com
http://www.mostrealisticai.com

All these are free and very good.

Hope that helps.
