Hi All!

I thought that I might try and obtain a scanner for myself to listen in on the Tower and aproach etc. After what happened on Sunday with a near collision, ok maybe not that close, at DUB involving a 737 taxing onto the runway while an Airbus was on final aproach, well very close to the threshold of 16/34. I would have loved to have heard the tower and the pilots as to what excacty happened, of which I have photos, by the way.

What scanner should I buy? I need one that will also have an ear piece so that I can put the scanner in my pocket listen in and still take photos. Something that I can get over the internet at a good reasonable price. My budget is limited as I have just broken the bank with my lenses. Something around the price range of about a fiver!  Laugh out loud

Please post any links to sites that sell these scanners.

Fergul  Big thumbs up

Fergul,

I own a Maycom AR-108, and it sounds perfect for what you want to use your scanner for...

It's small, lightweight, quality build, decently priced and has the option for earphones with the standard headphone sized jack.

For more information check out here ... http://www.nevadaradio.co.uk/acatalog/maycom-ar108.html

You should be able to pick it up for around £65, just do a search for it and shop around for the best price!

From my experience with it, the unit is has fantastic features and picks up both ATC and Pilots voices from a considerable way out from the airport.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Ian.

Furgel,

One more thing, check out...

http://www.flightstore.co.uk/pooleys...63.dept.119.dept_l2.235.dept_l3.0/

Its called Pooleys En-Route Guide and has every frequency for pretty much every airport's frequency in the UK and Ireland. May be of use in the future should you like to travel with your scanner!

Cheers,
Ian.
