I was amazed when FS ATC sent me to a Delta gate, but showing true FS form, it was a sh*t one.

Tomorrow is Avonair JFK-BRS!! Looking forward to it. Any guesses as to what aircraft it could be?

It comes with the Project Opensky 767 version 4. Press wingfold to activate it.

Quoting EZYAirbus (Reply 6):
73G?

Closer but no. WHile the 73G has the technical range for JFK-BRS, I don't feel that my passangers would feel comfortable flying transatlantic in a 737.

Let's look at this objectively.

Long haul routes for Avonair are currently: JFK, ORD, BOS, IAD and DXB. NRT HKG and LAX are being introduced upon delivery of 3 new 767-2V9/ERs (yes Boeing do still make them, check the 767 order sheet) equipped with PW4062s which should make short work of Bristol's tiny runway.

So what other options are there? It has to be able to reach DXB and ORD which are roughly 3100 and 3300nm respectively. This counts out the 737. They have to be smallish capacity yet have this range and be large enough to fly transatlantic confidently.

Need any more hints?

I'll be flying the flight later, so you'll all see if you don't guess.

Clue: They are the only type of aircraft to operate a certain model of engine. Mine have this model of engine.

Amy,

I looove the Avonair a/c! Great colors, although, if I may criticize a bit, I'm not too fond of the thin green line. But the blue is awesome!

what ever happened to that VA you created with the A320s in baby blue with the yellow sun?

Anyway, as always I look forward to more of your shots!

I've been working on Highland Airlines and mostly Avonair recently but I'm working on a new version of the same basic stuctural ideas but based in SAN instead. Quite small, using A319s primarily and some A320s and A321s around the more imediate area and some major US cities. Long haul will be made up of 777-200/ER connecting to LHR. I want this to be another reasonably small operation. Even something the size of my current airlines (Avonair now has 29 aircraft) keeps me pretty busy! Both airlines will receive 767-200/ERs in the near future and this adds painting work and schedule compiling which is more complicated than you might think to be remotely realistic and/or competitive.

I know the US market is overburdoned but I've wanted to setup US ops for a while now.

The identity will be a new working of the Sun theme in both name/personality and scheme. Watch this space!

The speculation is over! Here's Avonair's mystery trans-atlantic flyer loading up at JFK:

http://www.greycube.com/hosted/ariel/thread/110/1startgate.jpg

She's one of five Boeing 757s newly acquired for transatlantic and medium-long haul work. This particular one (G-AVXV) is an ex-TWA 757-231. She's joined by 3 ex-NWA 757-251s and an ex-Aeromexico 757-2Q8. These aircraft fly to JFK, DXB, BOS and IAD with the 2Q8 exclusively on ORD due to it having PW2040s over the other's PW2037s.

Here's the rest of the flight so far:

Climbing out of New York in the early evening sun.

http://www.greycube.com/hosted/ariel/thread/110/5cruise.jpg

Cruising at FL350, M0.82. An impressive climb considering that this is the second least powerful 757 possible (after the original RB-211 models) and she's on a pretty high fuel load. Not the speediest ever but certainly not taking any from the reputation of the 757 as the 'Ferrari of the sky'. Maybe just a Ferrari 208 instead of a 550M!

Gate 3 at Bristol Lulsgate. A landmark flight for me personally and the 757 performed a treat! It was a good landing but Fraps got confused by the dual monitors (as it sometimes does) and took the screenshot of the wrong screen! So no pic of that. I dint mess it up honest!

I was in a really A340-600 mood and I'm glad i chose this flight, as I'm sure the large number of pics will show! This is LH's only Star Alliance A346, D-AIHC. Please expand the pics for a much better look!

Someone needs to come up with a new .air file or .cfg file for that A340-600. I assume its the Simubuild one, they always fly with excessive elevator trim, look at those horizontal stabilisers!

I totally agree!

I'm gonna have a look at the .cfg file for the Simubuild A346 and see if i can sort that out, because it puts me off flying it, and i have yet to do an A346 flight!

Try turning up the elevator trim effectiveness in the aircraft.cfg. I know when I first flew the POSKY 763 V4 the roll rate on the thing was pathetic, made a school bus seem like it could turn on a dime. I upped the aileron effectiveness and solved the problem.

Landing at Osaka. Not perfect but none too bad. I found the A340 more controllable at low speeds than some heavies.

I really enjoyed this flight, new airline, new scheme, an aircraft I don't fly often. Unsure as to where to go next, I guess we'll see!
